  • Patent number: 5369387
Abstract: A power coupling assembly for superconducting magnets includes a conduit with insulating tubes around each power lead, with the tubing passing through a plug at the upper end of the conduit and extending only part way to the lower end. Cryogen gas flowing from the magnet chamber into the conduit is forced to flow through the multiple tubes to cool the leads.

  • Patent number: 5366072
Abstract: A protective pouch (26) for storing eyeglasses (24) or small objects such as keys or money that can be rolled up into a compact configuration (44). The pouch is provided with an eyeglass strap (21) with ends (20) capable of releasably attaching to the eyeglass arms (22) so that it is always available for use and cannot be lost. The two ends of the strap pass through holes (25) into the interior cavity (46) of the pouch, pass out the open end (48) of the pouch and are attached to the eyeglass arms. The pouch can slide along the strap to adjust the strap length for tensioning the eyeglasses to a one's head. A cover flap (30) is provided to fasten the pouch in its compact configuration or to close off the pouch opening. When the eyeglasses and strap are stored inside the pouch, the entire package can be worn on one's belt (50) from a loop (28) provided.

  • Patent number: 5332867
Abstract: A detachable seal assembly for a pressurized constant process oven through which a flat filament is passed and which seals the oven against the environment surrounding the oven including a resilient aperture formed by opposed flaps which extend from a transverse portion in the direction of movement of the filament to sandwich the filament. Compression is provided to the seal assembly such that the friction of filament movement tends to stretch the flaps to seal the resilient aperture about the filament. The seal assembly includes a clamp to enable ready replacement to minimize process down time during replacement.

  • Patent number: 5299728
Abstract: Apparatus and method for forming long lengths of laminated superconducting tape by passing three foils over idler pulleys, through a solder bath and between pinch rollers having a portion which extend above the solder bath to enable cleaning of the pinch rollers during the formation of the superconducting tape with means to adjust the pressure applied by the pinch rollers, and to adjust the laminated tape takeup tension independently from the foil process tension.

  • Patent number: 5291168
Abstract: Power couplings are provided from outside the shell of a superconducting magnet through the intervening space and through the cryogen pressure vessel to the magnet coils within the vessel. The multi-pin shim magnet connector is replaceable without cutting the vessel open and the shim and main magnet main coil connectors include central apertures through which cryogen boil-off gas is flowed before venting to cool the connectors and reduce boil-off.
