  • Patent number: 5072626
Abstract: A measurement system for microelectronic clean rooms to measure ultrafine particle size distribution in the range of 0.002 to 0.2 micrometers is provided which includes four screen diffusion stages each connected in series with a condensation nucleus detector. The input to each screen diffusion stage is connected to a localized area to be measured, and the output of each condensation nucleus detector is connected to a vacuum system which simultaneously draws particle bearing air through the four channels. The output signals of the condensation nucleus detectors present particle size distributiion. In one embodiment of the present invention, one or more optical particle detectors are connected in parallel with the diffusion stage-condensation nucleus detectors to expand the distribution measurements to larger sizes.

  • Patent number: 4722135
Abstract: The disclosed invention provides manually operated apparatus for precise placement of surface mounting integrated circuit devices on a printed circuit board. A dispensing unit operates to position a device into an oriented, predetermined position with respect to a first reference member, and a hand-held pickup unit is manipulated to pick up the positioned device from the dispensing unit while fixing its position with respect to a second reference on the pickup unit. The device in the pickup unit is transferred to and placed upon a prepared printed circuit board. The device is maintained in the same position relative to the two references and the desired placement points on the printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 4710725
Abstract: A preamplifier for use in an imaging system including a charge-injection device employs an amplifier, at least a first switch and a clamping loop. The switch is capable of grounding the amplifier reference outside the blanking interval and is open during at least a portion of the blanking interval, thereby preventing the amplifier from entering saturation during the charge injection performed by the charge-injection device. The clamping loop serves to maintain the output of the preamplifier at a predetermined constant level during that portion of the blanking interval in which the amplifier is disabled. The inventive preamplifier has a reduced input impedence and capacitance, and thus operates with less overall noise.

  • Patent number: 4698577
Abstract: A method for developing current control signals from motor terminal voltage in the control of alternating current electric motors which utilize electric current control signals oriented to the phase of a flux component in a rotating field for applying current so as to control the flux and torque in the motor. The method includes developing flux signals from measurement of motor terminal voltage and integrating those signals to develop corresponding flux signals. In one form, the method eliminates DC components occuring in the resultant flux signals by locating local maxima and minima of the resultant flux signal and correcting the value of the flux integrator so as to provide maxima and minima flux signals having equal absolute values. The method also includes establishing an initial flux in the motor prior to startup which is oriented in a predetermined manner such that initial current applied to the motor can be applied so as to immediately develop torque, if required.
