  • Patent number: 3947091
Abstract: A reflective type display apparatus comprising display means having light scattering areas and transparent areas backed by light reflective means. Transparent light refracting means is disposed at the front of the display means and has nonparallel front and rear surfaces. Light absorptive means is disposed between the front surface and the display means and outside the region of transparency between the display means and an observer.

  • Patent number: 3947639
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing improved telephonic conferences is presented. A speaker is selected for each conferee from the signals of the other conferees. The peak values of the speaker signal establish a variable reference level which another conferee must first exceed in order to become the new speaker and establish a new reference level. The reference level is continuously allowed to decay so that new speakers may gain the floor when the current speaker's peak signals fall below the peak signals of another speaker. Both an analog and a digital embodiment of the invention are presented.

  • Patent number: 3940771
Abstract: An adjustable support apparatus adapted primarily for antennas wherein most of the load is carried by pivotal rigid structural members and the drive members are subjected to a much smaller force. An embodiment is also described illustrating selferection principles.

  • Patent number: 3937352
Abstract: An arrangement for mounting plural covers on opposite surfaces of one or more planes employs elongated fastening nuts for receiving mounting bolts from opposite directions via the cover tops, formed with a pair of grooves which permits each nut to mate with a notch in a wall of one of the covers so that its rotational movement is restrained while housed therein.

  • Patent number: 3936798
Abstract: A drive mechanism for positioning a moveable indicator in rotation about, and/or radial displacement with respect to, a fixed reference index. Dual dial cord drives are employed which are driven from respective inputs definitive of the rotation and radial displacement to be individually or compositely imparted to the moveable indicator. The pair of dial cords are attached circumferentially to diametrically opposed portions of a cylinder with the moveable indicator extending on a diameter common to those portions. The cylinder portions are confined between, and maintained in sliding tangential engagement with, respective ones of a pair of space-separated, fixed-mounted channel guides. Implementations of the cylinder portions are exampled as diametrically opposed segments of a cylinder, diametrically opposed points on a ring, and diametrically opposed circumferential extremes of a cylindrical plate.

  • Patent number: 3936823
Abstract: A fast search system for DME generates range gates at the time an analog sweep voltage rises to the magnitude of an analog integrator waveform, the latter having a slope less than that of the sweep voltage and provided with a constant current source input. The current source is selectively inhibited by digital control means responsive to the relative time occurrence of range gates and reply pulses such that the range gate occurs during an instant interrogation period at a point in time corresponding to a predetermined percentage of the time at which appeared the first received reply pulse in a preceding interrogation period.

  • Patent number: 3934196
Abstract: A torque motor incorporating a permanent magnet rotor and winding therewith for providing the indicating mechanism of a servoed indicating unit. The circuitry for use with the indicating mechanism first applies a reference feedback-producing pulse, then provides the signal for application of torque to the indicator to move it toward the desired position, and then has a quiescent period to clear the stator windings of the mechanism of currents before recommencing the voltage reference and torquing cycle.

  • Patent number: 3934206
Abstract: A radio receiver having adjustable squelch means and including demodulator means, intelligence processing means including gating means, and squelch circuit means for controlling the gating means. The squelch circuit includes voltage dividing means which controls the amplitude of a squelch drive signal and/or a reference signal. Squelch control adjustment means provides variable resistance paths around each of the divider network resistive elements.

  • Patent number: 3932739
Abstract: Circuitry for evaluating a serial binary number after each of several modifications with respect to given constants and further modifying the result in connection with the sign of the result obtained by the previous modification to provide serial binary to BCD conversion. Further circuitry is illustrated for converting from a BCD word to a serial binary word by adding together one or more serial binary words each representative of the value of the logic ones appearing in the BCD word.
