  • Patent number: 8348606
Abstract: An enhanced pump assembly includes an impeller and volute casing designed to provide high operating pressures (ā€œPā€) and flow rates (ā€œQā€) with low energy usage. The impeller has a central shaft carrying radially projecting curved primary vanes, and each primary vane also has a twist in the radial direction. Secondary impeller vanes define triangular connecting fillet-like wall segments connecting each primary vane to the impeller shaft. The casing of the pump has a slight spiral deviation so that the pump chamber's radial sidewall flares away from the swept area of the impeller's vanes to define a fluid outlet that contributes to higher P-Q performance, especially when pumping colder fluids.

  • Patent number: 7729503
Abstract: An armored voice coil assembly comprises a former that is impregnated with a curable resin, preferably polyimide resin. Voice coil wire is wound around the outside surface of the former and is then preferably encased with an outer layer of resin impregnated glass fabric wrapped around the voice coil windings, effectively enveloping the voice coil within inner and outer layers of fabric and resin. The armored voice coil assembly is then cured into a solid shape.

  • Patent number: 7609949
Abstract: A durable, portable for the lighting or imaging professional includes at least a first collapsible frame adapted to support a light modifying flag or a light modifying net. The collapsible frame includes first and second rigid frame components 22, 24 carrying fixed hinge pins 38 that connect to first and second foldable frame components. The collapsible frame defines frame components with frame ends and the kit includes at least one light modifying flexible material segment with frame end receiving portions. The collapsible frame has a first erected size and the flexible material segment has a second size not greater than said first size so that the collapsible frame, when erected, permits a user to place the flexible material flag or net under tension upon the frame.

  • Patent number: 6567529
Abstract: A low frequency loudspeaker driver has polygonal diaphragm surfaces. In a first embodiment, the peripheral edge of a loudspeaker driver diaphragm is polygonal, preferably hexagonal or six sided, wherein each of the six peripheral sides are of equal length and meet in radiused or rounded corners. The hexagonal loudspeaker driver is supported within a matching hexagonal section truncated pyramid shaped basket having a hexagonal peripheral mounting flange. The hexagonal woofer of a first embodiment is adapted to be mounted on a planar baffle in a variety of densely packed arrays such that virtually no wasted baffle space is visible between the driver basket peripheral edges. The faceted hexagonal diaphragm shape provides an increase in cone surface area of approximately ten percent as compared to conventional frustoconical woofers having circular peripheral edges.

  • Patent number: 6516076
Abstract: A modular horn loudspeaker principally intended for use on emergency vehicles consists of three coaxially aligned cup-shaped parts, a sound chamber, a cover fitted to the sound chamber and a housing. The first embodiment of the modular, compact horn loudspeaker is implemented with a single siren driver and includes a dome-shaped driver diaphragm integrally formed onto an interior surface of the sound chamber. The sound chamber is an acoustical boundary defining member having curved propagation paths or horn throat channels formed in relief on a cup-shaped exterior surface. The sound chamber is coaxially aligned with and received in a tightly fitted cup-shaped cover member to define a plurality of curved horn throats of expanding rectangular cross sectional dimension directing the sound waves rearwardly around the diaphragm periphery and toward a housing rear wall.

  • Patent number: 6343891
Abstract: A twisted bicycle stem includes first and second substantially identical helically twisted clamping members fastened together using four threaded fasteners received in four corresponding threaded apertures. The assembled twisted stem defines a vertical cylindrical receiving aperture and an opposing substantially horizontal cylindrical receiving aperture having a central axis offset by 90° with respect to the central axis of vertical receiving aperture. The two helically twisted clamping members each comprise one-half of the finished stem structure for receiving the substantially horizontal handlebar and the substantially vertical steerer tube. First and second helically twisted clamping members are preferably manufactured of an engineering plastic, preferably reinforced with a 50% glass fiber fill or carbon fiber fill using high tensile strength filaments.

  • Patent number: 6290707
Abstract: A cosmetic pad for use in removing surface detritus from the skin at pressures a lay person can apply in scrubbing the skin is comprised of a segment of lofty, fibrous, non-woven structure of mixed denier organic (e.g., nylon or polyester) crimped filaments bonded at contacting points with a binder such as thermosetting resin and containing finely divided, biocompatible, soft abrasive particles. The cosmetic abrasive pad of the present invention is advantageously configured for safe, convenient use by a person scrubbing one's self, in the home. In one embodiment of the cosmetic abrasive pad of the present invention, a circular abrasive segment is detachably affixed to a circular handpiece carrying a flexible web bearing hook fasteners on one side and a hand loop or finger loop. The circular handpiece hook fasteners (e.g., Velcro® brand hook fasteners) releasably engage with the fibers of the abrasive segment and permit the user to adjust the position of the abrasive segment on the handpiece.

  • Patent number: 5760501
Abstract: A structure for a compression driver motor assembly which utilizes a pot with an integral top plate and a pole cap, thereby reducing magnetic losses and permitting manufacture of a driver structure with fewer parts and reduced weight. A more efficient process for manufacture of the motor assembly is also disclosed. The pot is manufactured with an integral top plate which is adapted for use with a large pole cap. The pole cap is affixed to the top of a permanent magnet and forms the magnetic gap with the top of the pot. The magnetic circuit of the driver thus includes a permanent magnet, a pot, a magnetic gap and the pole cap. The motor assembly is assembled in a process requiring fewer steps and less elaborate tooling than the motor assembly of the prior art.
