Patent number: 7018588Abstract: A multiwell test apparatus formed of a multiwell filter plate having a plurality of wells and a first feeding plate and a second receiver plate is provided. The wells of the multiwell filter plate each have an open bottom surface to which a membrane is attached, at least one first access hole providing access to the feeding/receiver plate below, a pair of alignment pins designed to fit alignment holes in the feeding/receiver plates in a particular arrangement. The first feeding plate is a single well plate or a multiwell plate used solely for feeding. The second receiver plate is a multiwell plate having the same number of wells as the filter plate and aligned so as to receive the wells of the filter plate therein used as the assaying plate. The use of alignment holes in the feeding/receiver plates and alignment posts in the filter plate ensure precise alignment of the plates when together.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2002Date of Patent: March 28, 2006Assignee: Millipore CorporationInventors: Kenneth DeSilets, Jeanne Phillips, Donald B. Patent number: 6131649Abstract: A heat exchange apparatus is provided which is formed from at least one multilayer presealed element and at least one monolayer element that are insert molded together. The heat exchange apparatus is provided with an inlet and an outlet for a process fluid and at least one inlet and at least one outlet for a heat exchange fluid. The sealing configuration of the presealed elements and the seal provided by the insert molding effect a seal configuration that causes heat to be transferred between the process fluid and the heat exchange fluid while preventing mass transfer between the two fluids.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1999Date of Patent: October 17, 2000Assignee: Millipore CorporationInventors: Steven R. Pearl, Charles D. Christy

Patent number: 6110375Abstract: Water to be purified is passed through a reverse osmosis step to produce a pure water stream and a waste water stream. The waste water is directed to a deionization step to produce purified deionized water which is recycled to the reverse osmosis step. The process directs far less water to waste as compared to conventional reverse osmosis processes. The process also produces water of higher organic and inorganic purity than can be obtained by either reverse osmosis or deionization alone.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1994Date of Patent: August 29, 2000Assignee: Millipore CorporationInventors: Mohammed F. Bacchus, Bruce M. Dawson, Gary A. O'Neill

Patent number: 6068770Abstract: A disposable separation module is disclosed which is capable of connecting to a fluid processing system in a quick-connect fashion. The module includes a housing containing a separation element with a plurality of fluid connectors on one end of the housing which are parallel to and exclusive of each other. This arrangement provides for essentially simultaneous engagement and fluid tight sealing of the fluid connectors to corresponding mating connectors on the fluid processing system. A retention mechanism is included which retains the entire module in fluid tight engagement by a single action without producing relative motion between the mating connectors.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1996Date of Patent: May 30, 2000Assignee: Millipore CorporationInventors: J. Karl Niermeyer, Gaston de los Reyes, Christopher R. Wargo, Richard L. Miller, Stephen K. Guerrera

Patent number: 5985160Abstract: A filtration process and apparatus are provided wherein feed fluid to be filtered is introduced into a small gap between two rectangular plates. At least one of the plates supports a porous filtration membrane within the gap. During filtration, at least one of the plates is oscillated to effect a continuously changing gradient of gap width between opposing surfaces of the plate. A permeate is collected and a seal is provided to prevent admixture of the permeate with either feed fluid or retentate.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1997Date of Patent: November 16, 1999Assignees: Millipore Corporation, Atlantic Applied Research CorporationInventors: Anthony J. DiLeo, Michael W. Phillips, Neal A. Brown

Patent number: 5980759Abstract: A filter cartridge is provided which includes (a) a wound depth filter or a cylindrical seamless depth filter and (b) a pleated filter having a lower micron retention rating than the depth filter. The depth filter and pleated filter surround a central opening. The cartridge is sealed and an appropriate inlet or outlet is provided in order to assure sequential fluid flow first through the depth filter and then through the pleated filter.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1995Date of Patent: November 9, 1999Assignee: Millipore CorporationInventors: Stephen Proulx, Frank M. Lentine, John L. Burns, Jr.

Patent number: 5976380Abstract: A filtration device is provided which includes a housing containing a porous membrane formed of a porous membrane substrate having its exposed surface completely modified with a perfluorocarbon copolymer composition. The porous membrane has substantially the same permeability as the porous membrane substrate.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1997Date of Patent: November 2, 1999Assignee: Millipore CorporationInventor: Wilson Moya

Patent number: 4968469Abstract: Molded articles such as gaskets for container caps are made from a thermoplastic composition at high speed, for instance above 100 per minute, by continuously cutting a continuous supply of molten thermoplastic composition into molten pieces and transferring the molten pieces to a molding position at which they are molded into the gaskets or other desired articles, and the composition includes a melt-release material that continuously replenishes a melt-release layer on the surfaces by which the molten composition is cut and transferred to the molding position.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1990Date of Patent: November 6, 1990Assignee: W. Patent number: RE35544Abstract: A device is provided comprising a piezoelectric material and at least one non-crystalline .[.non-crystalline.]. metal oxide.[.,.]..Iadd.; .Iaddend.crystalline.[.-.]..Iadd.,.Iaddend.non-zeolite metal oxide and mixtures thereof coating chemically reactive with trace quantities of water in chemically reactive and inert gases. The piezoelectric material is bonded to a conductor for delivering an alternating electric current and to a conductor for transmitting resonant vibration frequency of the crystal. The reactive metal oxide coating has an effective thickness which provides a serviceable life for the coating while not being so thick as to prevent vibration of the piezoelectric material.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1996Date of Patent: July 1, 1997Assignee: Millipore CorporationInventor: James T.
