  • Patent number: 6708614
Abstract: A hand-held stamping device and the method of making same that includes a substantially transparent acrylic mounting block to which a substantially transparent printing element is removably affixed without the use of adhesives. When the device of the invention is used, the indicia formed on the printing element can be clearly viewed through the mounting block, and the printing surface can be clearly viewed through the printing element. This enables precise positioning of the indicia on the surface to be printed. The device includes both a convex surface and a planar surface to which the printing element can be removably affixed. When the printing element is affixed to the planar surface, the indicia on the printing element, when viewed through the convex surface, is magnified.

  • Patent number: 6588730
Abstract: An apparatus for positioning high-strength cables within a precast, moment resisting frame made up of interconnected columns and beams in which the columns have an outside face provided with an opening and a cable receiving passageway in communication with the opening. The apparatus uniquely includes a cable routing subassembly for conveniently routing the cables from the interior of the moment resisting frame to the opening in the outside faces of the columns. The cable routing subassembly includes a curved tubular member that permits the cable to be inserted into an opening in the outside face of the column either from a first level within the structure that is substantially coplanar with the opening in the outside face of the column, or from a second level within the structure that is below the first level.

  • Patent number: 6546229
Abstract: The invention is a method of teaching an individual how to correctly sing a song by using visual display that is displayed to the individual synchronously with the playing of the audio portion of the song. A plurality of visual cues included in the visual display guides the individual in following the musical tones in the song that is played along with the display of the visual cues. The visual display can be made available for use in a variety of ways such as on CDs, on the Internet, and the like. Alternatively, the visual display can be published in a printed publication for use with an audio recording of the song.

  • Patent number: 6533648
Abstract: A production type surface finishing apparatus for finishing the surfaces of workpieces such as cabinet doors and the like which include a plurality of relatively large, very lightweight finishing platens that are simultaneously movable in both a reciprocal and an orbital-like motion. The platen is moved in a reciprocal motion by a first motion-imparting mechanism and is simultaneously moved in a high-frequency, orbit-like motion by a second motion-imparting mechanism that includes shafts which are rotated at relatively high rates of speed. The shafts, and the motors which drive them, are mounted on platforms which are reciprocally movable relative to the main frame of the device. Connected to the rotating shafts by specially designed elastomeric sleeve-like members or yieldably deformable connector bands are specially configured, ring-like members. The rings are, in turn, connected to the platen assemblies by novel shaft and bearing assemblies.

  • Patent number: 6535367
Abstract: By way of summary, in the preferred form of the invention, the patch panel comprises a manually programmable device that incorporates shunts or dip switches that are readily accessible from the front panel of the device. In the patch panel construction of the invention, a multi-pin connector block is connected to a first circuit board that, in turn, is connected to a second circuit board via a cable connector, thus allowing the signal switching (normalizing) and grounding circuits of the respective jacks to be selectively altered from the front access panel of the device. By manually changing the shunt or dip switch configurations, the respective normalizing and grounding circuits can easily and simply be altered as may be desired without costly system interruption.

  • Patent number: 6502724
Abstract: A connector module for use in connection with a beverage dispensing system for dispensing a beverage from a beverage container that includes a surface mounted dispensing tower to which one or more dispensing faucets are connected. The connector module can be inserted directly into the dispensing tower and take the place of the existing feed lines and cooling means. Additionally, the connector module which can be operably interconnected with the dispensing faucets, includes a cooling component that can be connected to the feed line and to a refrigeration line for cooling the feed line so as to ensure that the beverage leaving the faucet is appropriately chilled.

  • Patent number: 6414833
Abstract: An energy efficient multiple actuator control circuit is disclosed comprising a timing-slicing circuit for arranging and processing a pulsed select signal into a plurality of staggered pulse signals and a steering logic circuit for receiving the pulse signals and generating corresponding actuator enable signals. Latching solenoid actuators are arranged into position upon receipt of the pulsed actuator enable signals. The actuators maintain their position without any additional power. The circuitry is hardwired in that for a given select signal each actuator is activated into a predetermined position. The circuitry is scalable to arrange any plurality of actuators in any prearranged configuration, and the circuitry can perform properly over a broad variation of select signals.

  • Patent number: 5732637
Abstract: A lightweight, high-strength support platform for use in furniture construction, which has superior structural integrity and can be used, by way of example, in portable folding tables, in work tables and in modular furniture of the character typically used in modern office complexes. The support platform embodies a novel structural reinforcement core of a unique configuration which is both lightweight and exhibits superior strength and durability characteristics. In one form of the invention, the support platform is used in the construction of a lightweight, readily portable folding table which includes two pair of legs that are pivotally connected to the platform for pivotal movement between an extended operational position and a retracted storage and transport position.

  • Patent number: 5716343
Abstract: An apparatus for accurately infusing fluids into a patient at specific rates over an extended period of time. The apparatus is of a low profile, laminate construction having a stored energy source in the form of a distendable membrane, which in cooperation with the base of the apparatus defines one or more fluid reservoirs each having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. The apparatus further includes a novel, conformable ullage made of formable materials. The conformable ullage uniquely conforms to the shape of elastomeric membrane as the membrane returns to its less distend configuration and in so doing can move between a central chamber and a toroidal chamber formed in the cover of the apparatus. This arrangement will satisfy even the most stringent medicament delivery tolerance requirements and will elegantly overcome the limitations of materials selection encountered in devices embodying solely rigid ullage construction.
