  • Patent number: 4332465
Abstract: A balanced photoconductor usage control system for an electrophotographic copier/printer machine having a photoconductor containing thereon two page images areas, is employed to solve the problem of excessively high background level due to toner filming. More specifically, the control system includes memory means for retaining a location of a last page image area which was last used to produce a page, and control means jointly responsive to a presence of a full page condition in a page buffer, and to the memory means to effect production of a next page on an alternate page image area.

  • Patent number: 4185815
Abstract: The invention concerns a sheet feed for rapidly and accurately placing a sheet onto a processing station. A carriage is movably mounted above this processing station and reciprocated for feeding. Two belts extend between the sheet feed frame and opposite ends of the movable carriage, leaving an opening in the carriage. When the carriage is reciprocated, the belts transport the sheet to register it, feed it through the carriage opening onto the processing station, hold it down on the processing station, and remove it from there.

  • Patent number: 4032978
Abstract: Gray scale levels are converted to pseudo halftone print by a pseudo halftone generator which reduces Moire effects. The generator includes a comparator and an incrementing cyclic counting mechanism to compare the gray scale level to the cyclicly generated reference count for each print position in a print line to generate a print signal upon the level being greater than the count. The cyclicly generated count is incremented by a preselected number N for each print position and recycles at the square of that number (N.sup.2). The square value may also be selected as the maximum level of the gray scale range. N adjacent print lines may be grouped together to form a series of (N.times.N) matrices. The reference or lowest count value for each of the lines in a matrix is different and they range from zero to N-1. The arrangement of the lines in the matrix is such as to minimize the difference between the sums of the count element values for any two adjacent print lines.
