  • Patent number: 5301452
Abstract: A bait-carrying fishing hook has an eye, a shank, a rearward bight terminating in a point, and a resilient leg connected to the forward end of the hook and projecting from the front of the hook. The leg has a curve adjacent its connection to the hook which curve may be exaggerated into a bow of the leg such that the center of the leg is further from the shank than the ends of the leg. The remaining portion of the leg may be held by an offset catch at the rear of the hook. The shank, catch and leg, when received in the receptor of the catch define a closed loop bait holder for holding bait on the resilient leg. A fishing lure includes a body having forward and rearward attachment eyes, a hook extending rearward from the body, a bait-carrying fishing hook and a flexible tether connecting the bait holding hook to the eye on the body.

  • Patent number: 5300018
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved applicator designed for the application of anesthetic fluids such as phenol as well as other fluid medicants to the tympanic membrane. The applicator comprises an articulating member with a finger gripping zone adjacent the proximal end thereof, and an angularly disposed fluid retaining applicator pad secured to the distal end thereof. The distal end is provided with a cylindrical fluid retaining applicator pad attached to the cross-sectional surface of the tip, with the outer diameter of the pad being generally equivalent to that of the articulating member. The fluid retaining applicator pad permits painless application of an anesthetizing fluids such as phenol to the tympanic membrane, with excellent positioning control being made possible by the finger gripping portion of the articulating member.

  • Patent number: 5279840
Abstract: A method for producing reduced fat deep fried comestibles. The method particularly applies to preparing french fries from whole potatoes. The method involves coating the comestible with a mixture of ungelatinized amylose and calcium, blanching the coated comestible, dehydrating the blanched comestible to achieve about a 5% to a 30% total weight loss, and then parfrying the dehydrated comestible at about 270.degree. F. to about 340.degree. F. for up to about 3 minutes. The parfried comestible may then be frozen and then finish fried or alternatively may immediately be finish-fried. The resulting comestible has an appetizing flavor, texture and has up to a 40% reduced fat content as compared to conventionally prepared deep fried goods.

  • Patent number: 5261182
Abstract: A fishing lure including three components, a base, a skirt, and a nose. The base has a fishing line attachment, a spacer portion connected at a first end to the fishing line attachment, a bulbus body connected at a first side to an opposite end of the spacer portion, and a hook having a shank, a reverse bend and a point extending from a second side of the body. The skirt component is carried by the spacer portion between the bulbus body and the fishing line attachment. The nose, releasably engages the base adjacent the fishing line attachment. The nose includes a bore capable of passing fishing line and means for protectively covering the fishing line attachment. The lure also has means for suppressing catching upon weeds. The body and spacer portion are cast of lead upon the shank of the hook. The body shape is such that it provides an offset center of gravity relative to the hook shank.

  • Patent number: 4188086
Abstract: An improved connector for terminating flexible parallel conductors in which a male part has a length of distal surface about which an end of a flexible group of parallel conductors is bent. The male part, with the group of parallel conductors bent thereabout is inserted into a female part having a closed slot therein and a plurality of contacts along one of the walls thereof. Upon mating of the two connector parts, the contacts of the female part electrically engages respective ones of the parallel conductors. Various means are provided for keeping the conductors aligned during the mating action and latch members on both male and female parts cooperate to releasably secure the two parts together.

  • Patent number: 4177680
Abstract: A variable capacitance dual pressure sensor for sensing the pressure levels of a pair of fluids independently comprises an enclosure having a top wall and a bottom wall, and a substrate of dielectric material having a first major surface facing the top wall and a second major surface facing the bottom wall. A first electrode is affixed to a portion of the first major surface and a second electrode is affixed to a portion of the second major surface. A first flexible electrically conductive diaphragm is sealed to the first major surface of the substrate and is spaced from the first electrode to form therewith the plates of a first capacitor and a second flexible electrically conductive diaphragm is sealed to the second major surface of the substrate and is spaced from the second electrode to form therewith the plates of a second capacitor. The first and second diaphragms are electrically coupled together to form a common connection.

  • Patent number: 4149231
Abstract: A capacitance-to-voltage transformation circuit for providing an output voltage proportional to capacitive variations includes a variable capacitor, a reference voltage source, and circuit means for charging the variable capacitor to the reference potential. A switch means alternately connects the variable capacitor to the charging means and to ground at a cyclical rate determined by an oscillator clock. An impedance means coupled between the charging and switch means, develops a voltage drop thereacross of a magnitude directly proportional to capacitance variations of the variable capacitor. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, the circuit includes a compensating means for nullifying any fixed capacitance component of the variable capacitor.
