  • Patent number: 4359952
Abstract: A planter having a frame, a drive train supported from the frame and having a forward end adapted to be connected to a drive and the other end having drive structure rotatably supported on the frame, the frame also having a pair of laterally spaced horizontal flanges, stop structures extending through each flange, funnel structure mounted on said frame, a clutch shaft rotatably supported in the drive structure and having spaced jaws and structure for releasably connecting the clutch shaft in a driving and non-driving position to the drive structure, a hopper assembly having lower flanged surfaces for engaging the frame flanges and stops, a granular dispenser located in the lower portion of said hopper and having a dispenser shaft engageable with the clutch shaft jaws and fastening structure between the frame and hopper for releasably attaching the hopper to the planter.

  • Patent number: 4356780
Abstract: An apparatus to be towed that includes a frame supported, rotatably mounted, pair of furrow forming disks that are arranged to substantially contact each other at the approximate point of entry into the soil and diverge apart rearwardly and upwardly, a pair of rotatable gauge wheels having supports that individually and pivotally connect the wheels to the frame to regulate furrow depth, with each wheel being located generally adjacent an outer surface of a disk, and an equalizer assembly connecting the supports so that movement of a gauge wheel by an obstacle upward produces an equal movement of the other gauge wheel downward to produce a frame height and hence related furrow depth that is the average between the gauge wheel elevations.

  • Patent number: 4344639
Abstract: A dual implement hitch for connection between a tractor and the implements for moving the implements to preferably an echelon position for field operation and to a tandem position for transport, while maintaining the tractor hitch pin on the line of pull of the implements. The hitch includes a hitch tongue pivotally connected to the tractor and to a support attached to the first implement. A curved beam is pivotally connected to the support forward of the tongue connection thereto and extends rearwardly over the first implement in the transport position to a caster wheel support and a pivotal connection to the second implement. Link means are pivotally connected to the hitch tongue and curved beam rearward of the pivotal connection of the curved beam to the support. A single hydraulic cylinder connected to the support and tongue provides the power for the movement of both implements to the noted positions from the tractor seat.

  • Patent number: 4342366
Abstract: A mulcher that includes a longitudinal member having one end adapted for connection to a mobile power source, a beam member extending transversely of the connecting member and connected thereto and also having a downwardly opening channel configuration, a generally curved bar located in the channel configuration, a mounting structure for connecting the curved bar to the beam member and a spring tooth structure having a pair of spaced axially aligned coil portions and an intervening connector portion pivotally mounted on the curved bar with a tooth portion extending downwardly from the endmost convolutions of the coil portions. The connector portion engaging the mounting structure when the mulcher is towed and the tooth portions engage the soil with the coil portions winding up on the curved bar. The connector portion moving away from the mounting structure until the tooth portions contact the channel when the mulcher is backed up with the tooth portions in the soil.

  • Patent number: 4336846
Abstract: A tool bar having a hollow central section and oppositely extending offset hinged wings movable from a generally horizontally transversely extending working position to a folded transport position. A hydraulic cylinder is positioned in the central section adjacent each wing and has its rod pivotally connected to a pair of rollers substantially spanning the hollow central section and to a pair of links via a slotted connection, with the links also being pivotally connected to the ear of a wing. The rollers reduce wing fall as the wing moves from the working position approximately 180.degree. to a transport position on top of the central section or vice versa. The slotted link connection prevents binding of the rollers against the central section during the procedures.

  • Patent number: 4324296
Abstract: A mechanism for folding the wings of a multi-section implement from a transversely extending working position to a latched, vertical transport position relative to the main section and return. The mechanism includes a hydraulic cylinder that extends between the main section and each wing and a support and latch assembly. This assembly includes a fixed support on the main section and a telescoping tube for each wing which has its outer end pivotally connected to the wing and its inner end pivotally attached to the support. A latch structure is attached to the inner end of each tube and includes a crank arm pivotally mounted on the latch structure and pivotally connected to the rod of a single cylinder. A lever extends from this connection to a slidable mount on a slotted hole in the fixed support. The latch structure has a spring loaded tongue that engages a ramp having an aperture therefor on the outer end of each tube to latch the inner and outer ends of each of the tubes together.
