Abstract: The invention includes novel compounds, including but not limited to formula A and formula B, and an improved delivery method. These compounds and methods are useful in preventing or treating diseases or conditions associated with or caused by the presence of free radicals, and are useful for increasing cellular metabolism while simultaneously alleviating the resultant increase in oxidative stress. Specifically, a carnitine is bound to a lipoic acid derivative or to dihydrolipoic acid or its derivatives using a hydrolysable linker to form a single compound.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel induction heating apparatus for controlling the welding parameter of temperature for a pre-weld heating operation, interpass operation, or a hydrogen bake-out operation. Specifically, the present invention relates to using a novel induction heating apparatus for controlling this welding parameter. The heating device is comprised of a pair of opposed heating collars placed on either side of a pipe comprising a weld joint. The heating device transfers heat from the collar to the weld joint surface by induction providing a method of controlling this welding parameter.
Abstract: A pipe handling apparatus for raising and lowering pipe to and from a raised derrick work floor. The apparatus comprises a longitudinally-extending base, with a longitudinally-extending cavity therein. An elongate, longitudinally-extending boom member is provided, which is adapted for raising out of and nestable positioning in such cavity. The boom member has a longitudinally-extending trough therein on an upperside surface thereof, adapted to receive at least one section of pipe. At least one arm member is coupled to the boom member for raising a proximal end of such boom member. A carriage member, slidably coupled to the boom member, is moveable longitudinally along the boom in the trough. The carriage member is adapted to engage and slidably transport one end of the pipe along the trough. Motive means are provided to permit powered movement of the carriage member along the boom.
