  • Patent number: 6231985
Abstract: An adhesive suitable for bonding wood is both heat curable and radio frequency (RF) curable. This adhesive is composed of an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer and hydrolyzed soy protein having a pH of at least about 9 and advantageously from about 9 to 11.5. The weight ratio of prepolymer to soy protein hydrolyzate ranges from about 70:30 to 90:10.

  • Patent number: 6045057
Abstract: One aspect of the present invention is a spray gun adapted for spray-applying fiber-reinforced resins with ceramic fiber loadings of at least about 55 wt-%. Such novel spray gun has an inlet for admitting the fiber-reinforced resin; an air inlet for atomizing the fiber-reinforced resin; a catalyst inlet; and an outlet for expelling catalyzed fiber-reinforced resin from the spray gun. The spray gun also has a straight-line delivery channel in fluid communication with the resin inlet, the catalyst inlet, and the outlet. A flow actuator is provided for selectively actuating admission of the fiber-reinforced resin and the catalyst into the spray gun. The resin inlet and the catalyst inlet are disposed for admitting resin and catalyst, respectively, in line into the straight-line delivery channel.

  • Patent number: 5950702
Abstract: The coated pattern is formed from a consumable pattern, preferably polystyrene, and is adapted to be decomposed and replaced by molten metal to form a casting. The improved coating is the dried residue of an aqueous coating formed from water, refractory particles, and from between about 25 wt-% and 75 wt-% organic polymer on a non-volatile solids basis (i.e., dry film basis). Lustrous carbon is reduced when casting iron.
