  • Patent number: 4626435
Abstract: A coffee serving contains a composition of a combination of a preselected amount of a coffee bean selection in flaked or ground coffee particle size and a preselected amount of a fruit acid-sodium bi-carbonate foamer composition, intimately mixed together in a water porous film serving unit bag. The ground coffee composition is disposed and secured in a serving unit bag, and is brewed in a preselected volume of boiling water for a preselected time period. When the unit bag of coffee combination is initially disposed in the boiling water, the unit bag floats, due to the carbon dioxide gas formed and evolving in the wetted bag, the gas agitating the grounds. As the carbon dioxide gas finally disperses through the porous film wet bag, the bag sinks to the bottom of the container of hot coffee solution. The slightly acidified or neutral pH brewed coffee solution is now ready to drink.

  • Patent number: 4430278
Abstract: The regulated permeability of a thermoplastic membrane is modified by subjecting the thin membrane sheeting to warm to hot water, increasing the absorption of water in the membrane. The membrane is then rapidly heated with microwave radiation energy, typically at the 2450 MHz frequency absorbed by water, or heated in hot air. The water molecules absorbed in the membrane are explosively boiled out of the membrane, increasing the porosity of the membrane to water and also to other small molecules dissolved in water. The permeability of the plastic membrane is controlled by varying the concentration of water molecules initially absorbed in the hot membrane. Several types of plastic membrane having a relatively higher water absorption can be treated. The thin plastic membrane can be manufactured by extruding a small diameter, thick wall plastic tubing into hot water, and expanding the tubing with a hot water stream pumped into the inside of the tubing.

  • Patent number: 4317971
Abstract: An electrical limit switch valve, having an essentially rigid plastic structural composition, is adapted to conductively secure a fluid flow pipe. A covering flexible elastic membrane diaphragm separates a valve base and piped fluid from a spring loaded ON-OFF electrical switch. The push button detent of the ON-OFF switch is operated normal to the valve bore axis. A valve plug slidably moves on the valve bore axis, the plug bonded at the first valve plug face to the second face of the flexible diaphragm, and the valve plug stem operates the push button detent of the ON-OFF switch. An adjustable actuating first pressurizing spring, coaxially disposed in the valve top housing along the valve bore axis regulates the fluid pressure at which the ON-OFF switch is actuated. An adjustable second pressurizing spring positioned normal to the valve bore axis is adapted to operate on a second spindle controlling the valve plug movement at fluid pressures below atmosphere pressure, in the fluid flow pipe.
