Abstract: A negative-working imaging member can be used as a lithographic printing plate without ablation. The imaging member comprises a support and an imaging layer that includes a dispersion of at least 0.05 g/m2 of a cyanoacrylate polymer that is thermally degradable below 200° C., a photothermal conversion material that is present in an amount to provide a dry weight ratio to the cyanoacrylate polymer of from about 0.02:1 to about 0.8:1, and a hydrophilic binder to provide a dry weight ratio of a hydrophilic binder to the cyanoacrylate polymer of up to 1:1. Thermal imaging energy causes the exposed areas of the imaging layer to adhere to the support while unexposed areas can be readily washed off and/or simultaneously inked for press runs.
Abstract: Aqueous-based thermally sensitive emulsions and imaging materials include two or more hindered phenol silver ion reducing agents in a non-crystalline reducing agent composition. Such compositions can be provided as evaporated dispersions and can be formulated in aqueous coating compositions to provide thermally developable materials such as thermographic and photothermographic materials.

Abstract: A radiographic phosphor panel includes a phosphor layer that transmits actinic radiation in a range that is reflected by a transparent, polymeric multi-layer reflector used as a support. The polymeric multi-layer reflector has numerous alternating layers of at least two different polymeric materials and reflects at least 50% of actinic radiation in the range of wavelengths to which the phosphor is sensitive. The use of this polymeric multi-layer reflector in the radiographic phosphor panel provides increased photographic speed when it is used in imaging assemblies with photosensitive recording materials such as radiographic silver halide films.

Abstract: A three-part color developing kit includes (I) a first concentrated aqueous solution having a pH of from about 11 to about 13.5 and comprising at least 0.25 mol/l of sulfite ions, at least 2.5×10−5 mol/l of iodide ions, at least 0.05 mol/l of bromide ions, and at least 0.5 mol/l of a buffer having a pKa of from about 11 to about 13.5, (II) a second concentrated aqueous solution having a pH of from about 3 to about 6 and comprising at least 1 g/l of a vinyl pyrrolidone polymer, and at least 0.05 mol/l of an organic antioxidant, and a third concentrated aqueous solution having a pH of from about 1 to about 3 and comprising at least 0.05 mol/l of a color developing agent, and at least 0.005 mol/l of sulfite ions.
Abstract: Radiographic films exhibit improved visual performance because of the presence of certain colorants that provide more positive a* values without diminishing image tone (b*). Thus, the greenish tint the films may exhibit is reduced. These films provide desired sensitometric properties while they have reduced silver, hydrophilic polymer binder, and hardener coverage on both sides of a transparent support.
Abstract: An effective, biodegradable photographic bleaching solution comprises, as a bleaching agent, a ferric alkyliminodiacetic acid complex, and a particular organic phosphonic or phosphinic acid as an anti-rust agent. This anti-rust agent reduces or eliminates the formation of iron hydroxide in the processing solutions following the bleaching step, and further improves bleaching effectiveness.
Abstract: Aqueous-based photothermographic materials have improved stability to increase in Dmin during aging by including certain water-soluble or water-dispersible antifoggants that have a pKa of 8 or less. These antifoggants are represented by Structure I:
R1—SO2—C(R2)R3—(CO)m—(L)n—SG I
wherein R1 is an aliphatic or cyclic group, R2 and R3 are independently hydrogen or bromine as long as at least one of them is bromine, L is an aliphatic divalent linking group, m and n are independently 0 or 1, and SG is a solubilizing group having a pKa of 8 or less.
Abstract: Photothermographic materials comprise heat-bleachable antihalation compositions in antihalation layers. These compositions comprise a hexaarybiimidazole and one or more infrared radiation absorbing compounds that are represented by the following Structure I:
A1—L1—A2 I
wherein A1 represents a group derived from a dye base, a heterocyclic group, or an electron-donating aromatic group, A2 represents a group derived from a dye base, a heterocyclic group, a group derived from a dye acid, or an electron-donating aromatic group, and L1 represents a conjugated linking group that maintains electron delocalization between A1 and A2 to provide infrared absorbance. The antihalation composition is typically bleached when subjected to a temperature of at least 90° C. for at least 0.5 seconds.
Abstract: A thermally imageable element can be imaged using heat alone without the need for photosensitivity or post-imaging processing. The element contains image-forming chemistry that comprises i) image precursor chemistry and ii) a catalyst or a catalyst precursor that upon imagewise heating is capable of promoting thermally induced image formation with the image precursor chemistry. The image-forming chemistry i) and ii) components are in reactive association and uniformly dispersed or dissolved within a binder in one or more layers of the element. Thus, the element is capable of being thermally addressed to provide a visible image as a result of thermally induced catalytic transformation of the image-forming chemistry.
