  • Patent number: 7886823
Abstract: A two part encapsulated cementing system is mixed downhole in a method of remediation of an active well. Using this two part system, one of the components is first placed in the well at the desired remediation depth. Next, the other component is placed in the well above the first placed component. Densities of the components have been selected such that the density of the second placed component is sufficiently higher then the density of the first placed component to facilitate gravity mixing of the two components as the second placed component moves through the first placed component and in the process activation occurs.

  • Patent number: 5707923
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of alkylating in which a hydrocarbon and acid emulsion is circulated in a reaction loop between a reactor and a cooler. A small sidestream of the reaction emulsion is constantly removed to a liquid-liquid separator where the hydrocarbon and acid phases are separated. The recovered acid is then recycled back to the reaction loop. The amount of recovered acid recycled is controlled by monitoring the density of the reaction emulsion.

  • Patent number: 5693870
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and process for producing a tripropylene glycol in which alkylene oxide, water, an acid catalyst and a dipropylene glycol are contacted together under conditions suitable to form the tripropylene glycol. Water is present in the reaction mixture in the range of about 1 to about 50 weight percent of the reaction mixture. The ratio of water to alkylene oxide is less than about 9. The tripropylene glycol thus produced exhibits a higher primary hydroxyl group content generally exceeding 36 percent. Such tripropylene glycols find utility in the production of acrylics. Also disclosed is a process for making esters from such glycols.

  • Patent number: 5629905
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of datuming seismic trace data from a first horizon to a lower second subsurface horizon, both located above a target horizon. A seismic source and receiver are positioned along the first horizon and each assigned a coordinate representing a position along the first horizon. The seismic trace data includes both header information and seismic data. The header information includes the coordinates assigned to the source and receiver. The seismic data is a record of reflection amplitude versus travel time of a seismic signal traveling from the source, downward through and intersecting the second horizon at a downward intersection point, reflecting upward from the target horizon, upward through and intersecting the second horizon at an upward intersection point, and upward to the receiver. The method generally includes determining for both the downward upward intersection points, coordinates along the second horizon corresponding to positions along the second horizon.

  • Patent number: 5583972
Abstract: A weathercasting system for displaying dynamic real time photo-realistic three-dimensional pictorial representations of weather conditions created from meteorological data combined with geographical and topographical data. Geographical and topographical data is retrieved, digitized, and processed to produce a simulated three-dimensional volumetric image and stored in memory for later retrieval. Meteorological data including precipitation, cloud cover data, the bottom and top of cloud formations, and reflectivity and velocity of rain droplets in real-time are acquired from C-band and/or K-band Doppler radar, or non-Doppler K-band and Doppler X-band radar installations which ameliorate S-band radar data and the data is digitized and processed to produce a simulated three-dimensional image of the meteorological data.

  • Patent number: 5521881
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of processing seismic data containing multiples, which method generally includes as a step, determining the two-way travel time to a suspected multiple generating event. This method includes the application of a normal moveout operation to the recorded seismic trace utilizing the primary event velocities. Once the normal moveout has been applied to the data, all of the events in the trace are shifted downward in time by an amount of time equal to the two-way travel time to the suspected multiple generating event as previously determined. Once the normal moveout operation and the two-way travel time shift have been applied to the trace, a reverse normal moveout operation is applied to the trace utilizing an extended velocity function, which is a function of the original primary and the velocity within the suspected multiple generating layer. The resulting trace is now a trace containing only multiples.
