  • Patent number: 4750193
Abstract: The data detector for extracting clock information from an encoded run length limited data signal, including a control loop comprised of a phase detector, the charge pump, a filter buffer circuit and a voltage-controlled oscillator, wherein the data detector embodies a monostable multivibrator having a Q2 output that changes from low to high state at one-half the duration of the Q1 output, so that the Q2 output lags Q1 by 90 degrees and appears in phase with the extracted clock signal when the loop is locked.

  • Patent number: 4603357
Abstract: In a system for detecting information stored upon a flexible magnetic media that includes a magnetic transducer for producing an analog signal representing stored binary data, comparator means for detecting positive and negative peaks of the analog signal, and voltage threshold means for providing a reference threshold voltage to the comparator which is a precise percentage of the voltage peaks of the analog signal, an improved magnetic recording detection pointer comprising a pulse width discriminator used to monitor the time per peak during which the analog signal exceeds the detection threshold as an indication of marginal data which can be used in conjunction with an error correction system to extend the overall system correction capability.

  • Patent number: 4596505
Abstract: When loading slit tape onto tape reels it is essential that empty reels be readily available. The present invention provides an assembly which substantially automatically transports empty reels to a loading station in a slitting machine, precisely positions the reels so that they can receive slit tape and remove the reels from the loading station after they are loaded. Each reel is engaged by a blade which moves the reel transversely between stations. The position of each blade with respect to each adjacent blade is alterable to thereby precisely position reels in the desired location.
