Abstract: A control method for a dual-cylinder moisture removal apparatus of a pneumatic system is taught. The control method places a limitation on the time for drying of moist air in a drying cylinder. The drying of moist air in one drying cylinder and the regeneration of the absorbent used to dry moist air in a second cylinder are alternated at each predetermined time. When the air compressor is stopped each drying cylinder is switched to a reverse position to the position it occupied just prior to the stopping of the air compressor. Furthermore, when the air compressor resumes operation, the position of each drying cylinder is maintained in the position it occupied just before resumption of operation of the air compressor.
Abstract: A friction shock-absorbing draft gear having an elongated body member secured to a base member which forms a housing of such draft gear. An elongated compressible device disposed within an internal cavity of the body member adjacent the base member. A collar member secured to the body member adjacent an open end thereof. At least one friction shoe, having at least one tapered friction surface, frictionally engaging a correspondingly tapered inner friction surface of the collar member. A wedge member, having a tapered surface, engages a correspondingly tapered surface on the friction shoe and applies an outwardly-directed radial force on the friction shoe to maintain such friction shoe in frictional engagement with the collar member. At least one lug, extending inwardly of the collar member, engages the wedge member to lock the at least one friction shoe and the wedge member in place.
Abstract: A transmission control is disclosed for a road vehicle for the determination of shift signals on downhill slopes. The invention includes a device for the determination of the stationary or constant speed drive torque M.sub.stat, which is necessary for the unaccelerated drive of the vehicle. The transmission control also includes a downhill gear classification device to coordinate the selection of a gear which is suitable for the downhill slope in question with a torque comparator in which various values of the stationary torque M.sub.stat are classified with the suitable downhill gear i.sub.x. A blocking element prevents a gear shift if a gear to be engaged by a shift command transmitter is higher than the suitable gear with the transmission ratio i.sub.x.
