    Abstract: A jar tool for inclusion into a well fishing operating string which provides resilient tensional stretch to operate the tool. The tool is adapted to compress an upper release spring to store energy corresponding to tensional force in the operating string forces. A release latching lug array connects the spring to a central mandrel having an impact hammer. The tool housing forms an impact anvil. The spring is compressed to a designated compressional force by the distance that the latch lug array is moved before suddenly releasing the spring from the mandrel. The tension in the operating string then pulls the mandrel hammer into jarring impact with the housing anvil. The provision is made for designating this pre-release movement of the latching lug array and also provides remotely actuated apparatus for adjusting the distance of the pre-release movement and thereby the compressional force imparted into the spring.

    Abstract: An access prevention device having a rigid metal enclosure body made of metal plate and having a plurality of sides. A first elongated slot is formed linearly in a first wall and adapted to receive the shackle of a padlock inserted into a first end of the body. A second elongated slot is formed linearly in a second wall and adapted to receive the staple loop of a hasp interlinked with the shackle of the padlock. The device may be heat treated to resist being disabled. The padlock shackle encloses a portion of the first wall and the loop of the staple when it is locked into place. A protective skirt extends longitudinally between the ends of the body and forms the sides of the body. The protective skirt is adapted to protect the padlock shackle from access by external cutting devices.

    Abstract: Discloses apparatus for separating the solids from a liquid of a sludge or slurry which includes a slurry source, a slurry container receiving slurry from the source and a filter cage removably mounted inside the container. The filter cage includes a cage frame, a supported screen liner mounted within the cage and a filter liner removably fitted inside the liner. The container has a liquid drainage conduit removably connected to a suction device for removing liquid from the drainage chamber. The container is constructed and adapted to be picked up, carried about, and tilted to remove solid material deposited within the filter cage. The filter cage is constructed and adapted to be hoisted up out of the container and separately moved about and tilted to remove solids deposited within the filter cage. A liquid injection apparatus may be provided for injecting a selected amount of a flocculating agent into the slurry received into the container to cause flocculation of solid particles in the slurry.

    Abstract: Discloses transportable liquid clarifying and screw conveyor/compactor liquid-solid separator apparatus which includes a pressureable clarifier vessel portably mounted on a base with a top and sides converging to the bottom of the vessel for attachment to a sludge disposal apparatus. A sludge inlet enters the top of the vessel and extends to near the bottom of the vessel. An effluent discharge flow control valve is connected through a conduit in the top of the vessel to provide a designated back pressure within the vessel while controlling the discharge flow of effluent liquid from the vessel. The sludge disposal apparatus includes an elongated screw conveyor/compactor mounted at an angle and extending upwardly from the vessel bottom. The compactor housing is tapered to compact the sludge as the screw conveyor carries the sludge to a liquid extraction section. The liquid extraction section has a screen tapered to further compact the slurry while extracting liquid being forced out of the slurry.

    Abstract: A method for concentrating salt water. Salt water is separated from oil-water mixture which has been produced from a well. Salt water is introduced into a recirculating weir and mixed with more concentrated brine. Brine is recirculated through a thermal syphon apparatus. Recirculation includes passing brine, including some salt water, from weir into boiler vessel. Brine is heated within boiler vessel to a boiling temperature whereby brine, while boiling, generates steam which passes up out of weir. All of foregoing steps are performed at atmospheric pressure. The density of brine is sensed at a location in the lower vicinity of weir. Concentrated brine is released from lower vicinity when density at sensed temperature is at a level corresponding to a brine concentration near the precipitation of salt from solution. Salt water and brine is passed through a magnetic water treating unit. The concentrated brine, as released, is passed into a holding vessel.

    Abstract: A towing system adapted for quick and safe release of a towing tug from a barge string. Cable cleats and bits are mounted on the tug and on the barge string to position and support a cable which is connected into a winch apparatus to tightly connect the tug and the barge string together. A cable loop is looped around and retained by a cable retainer arm pivotably connected into a frame mounted to retain the cable. The retainer arm forms a distal finger retained to latch the arm into cable retaining position by a latch lock device. The latch lock device is pivotably mounted in the frame to retain the distal finger. A catch device forming a catch hook is pivotably mounted to the latch block device. A retainer bar is fixably mounted with the frame to engage the catch hook for keeping the latch block in position to retain the finger. A lever arrangement is pivotably connected to the frame for pushing the catch hook free of the retainer bar device.

The conduits are adapted for respective connection to control valves. A hinge connects the cover member to the vessel body for pivoting the cover member from closed position to open position. A solids separator element disposed within the body has a hollow porous member attached about periphery of a support ring. The support ring has an annular flat surface abutting an annular flat surface of the support flange. An arcuate resilient spring is connected to opposite sides of the support ring and extends to be forcefully deformed against the inner side of the cover member when cover member is closed.

    Abstract: An access structure such as a petroleum products loading platform which includes a vertically moving work platform having guides restrained with a plurality of vertical support members to vertically guide the platform along the support members. A plurality of lifting elements are respectively connected to each of the support members and to the platform to vertically move the platform along each of the support members. A common actuatable power arrangement is connected to each of the lifting elements to cause the lifting elements to vertically move the platform a prescribed distance along each of the support members responsive to each actuation of the power arrangement. Each of the lifting elements may be a hoisting drum and cable arrangement which is vertically moveable responsive to rotation of the hoisting drum to reel in or pay out the cable.
