Abstract: Life saving garment including an air-filled liner for independent use or for attachment to the jacket of a working suit. The liner has front, rear and expandible collar sections including chest, back and shoulder air compartments. The air mainly occupies the back compartment under normal working conditions and is forced into the upper parts of the sections by water pressure. The expanded shoulder compartments and a buoyant neck ring keep the wearer's head above water.

Abstract: A tufting machine having multi-color selection capability in which an improved selection means enables the selection of one of a plurality of yarns which upon selection is pneumatically transported to a tufting station where a bit-length of yarn is severed and tufted to a backing layer. The selection process comprises individual selection band-like members which, upon selection by solenoid means, engage with an oscillating shaft from which said band-like members extend tangentially. The band-like members are connected to elements which are used to engage yarn and which feed, meter and pull back such yarn when they are driven by the oscillatory shaft.

Abstract: A sled on which two movable runners in front and two in back are mounted so that they can be tilted on a sled frame, so that the canting axes, running in the direction of travel, are primarily parallel over the sled's contact surface and the runners are connected with each other by at least one jointed parallelogram which transfers the tilting motion.

Abstract: A machine for cutting off the heads of carrots in which the beginning of a carrot and its direction of taper are sensed electro-optically as it is carried by a conveyor and the time of operation of a cutter associated with the conveyor is controlled accordingly.
