  • Patent number: 7837654
Abstract: A microneedle insertable in a target cell tissue, including a manipulative end maintained exterior of cell tissue and an insertion end positionable in or adjacent of target cell tissue. A plurality of microtubes are bundled to pass through the needle body and extend to respective distal ends grouped proximally interior of the insertion end. A sensing fiber is extendable from means for sensing for passage through the needle body to a distal end capable of sensing cell tissue parameters. The insertion end and the bundled microtube and sensing fiber distal ends are positionable in or adjacent of cell tissue thereby providing rapid evaluation of cell parameters by optic fiber sensing, fiber sampling of cell parameters, and precise delivery of therapeutic fluids or additional treatment measures. A method is also disclosed of precisely positioning a microneedle having a plurality of microtubes and sensing fibers therein for evaluating and treating cell tissue.

  • Patent number: 7201561
Abstract: A swashplate seal assembly sized for rotor shaft rotation therein, including an outer cover encircling the rotor shaft and covering a sealing ring having an inner circumference on which a resilient sealing wiper is inwardly disposed. The outer cover, sealing ring and resilient sealing wiper are sectioned in respective like-configured curved segments for disassembly without removing adjacent segments during inspections. Inboard of the sealing ring is a flanged seal ring having an outer surface diameter limited in size to allow positioning the seal ring within the sealing wiper. The seal ring is fitted on an outer perimeter of a bearing retainer positionable within the sealing ring, thereby positioning the seal ring outer surface in sliding engagement with the sealing wiper during rotor shaft rotation. The outer cover positioning and the engaging relationship between seal ring and sealing wiper operate to minimize contaminants intrusion along the rotor shaft during rotation.

  • Patent number: 7185575
Abstract: A system for remote tracking of a tactical missile assembly orientation during targeting and leading to launch from a platform, including a weapon station frame rotatably attached to the platform and a command launch unit attached to the weapon station frame. A launch tube assembly is pivotably attached thereon, including a launch tube in which a tactical missile is positioned prior to launch. The launch tube is replaceable with a like-configured launch tube and tactical missile. A launch tube position recognition unit is disposed proximal of the launch tube and adjacent of the weapon station frame. The position recognition unit includes a tracking and encoder device enclosed by a protective encoder member rotatably attachable between the launch tube and weapon station frame. The tracking and encoder device identifies launch tube positions and remotely relays position coordinates to the command launch unit during targeting of the missile leading to missile launch.

  • Patent number: 7044060
Abstract: A delivery and release device for release and detonation of sequential explosive charges is disclosed to penetrate hardened structures. An aerodynamic shell is sized for delivery to a target by hand or mechanical means, including a first explosive charge is in a forward portion and a release device enclosing a second explosive charge is disposed in a shell rear portion. The release device includes a segmented cone positioned behind the first explosive charge, and a segmented cylindrical unit extending rearwards to enclose the second explosive charge within the shell during flight. Upon impact with the target, the first explosive charge detonates and directs high pressure gases against the target and deflection of gases rearwards against the segmented cone. The segmented cone and cylindrical unit are forced to separate and pivot outwards thereby releasing the second explosive charge for delayed delivery and detonation against the target leading to breach and destruction.

  • Patent number: 6393736
Abstract: An arch brace orthotic includes an adjustable arch curve having a plurality of extensions separated by incisions which separate the arch curve surface into multiple resiliently cantilevered extensions. The extensions adjust the arch curve height and slopes during each foot-strike along the arch curve. The weighted arch curve height is returned to an unweighted height by flexibly rebounding of each extension to support the arch of the user's foot. A tensioning means is connectable under the arch brace, providing adjustment of the arch curve height and slope to therapeutically support the user's arch. The arch brace is movable without disassembly between any shoe for treatment of arch and foot disorders. A method of treating plantar fasciitis and related foot disorders includes selectively and periodically adjusting the arch curve height and slopes by manipulating the tensioning means for therapeutic support and user controlled strengthening of the user's arch and foot.

  • Patent number: 6345455
Abstract: An orthotic arch support including an intrinsically self-adjusting medial longitudinal arch curve including a plurality of generally adjacent incisions being generally transverse across the medial longitudinal arch curve. The incisions originate at a medial side of the arch curve, thereby separating the curved arching surface into a plurality of resilient extensions. The plurality of extensions are compressed against each other and self-adjust the arch curve height and slopes during each step. As weight shifts onto the posterior slope, the height of the arch curve is decreased by limited compression of each extension against adjacent extensions during each stride. Each resilient extension flexibly rebounds to return the arch curve to an unweighted height when weight shifts off of the arch curve. A tensioning means is insertable underneath the extensions to adjust the height and slopes of the arch curve, providing for user adjustment of the arch curve height and slopes as foot pain is reduced during use.
