    Abstract: A fiber optic cable splice means for splicing a fiber optic cable having a pair of fiber retaining elements with an opening for receiving the buffer casing at an end of a fiber optic cable with its bare optic fiber extending therefrom. A cavity within each element provides a fiber deflection chamber for protecting therein the bare optic fiber. The retaining elements are crimped for securing therewith the buffer casing and its optic fiber. A housing or tubular unit has end sections which receive therein a respective one of the retaining elements, and are crimped for securing the retaining elements therewith. An optical fiber alignment means is contained within the unit for aligning and optically joining together the ends of the optic fibers which extend from the retaining elements. The retaining elements may have an insert through which the optic fiber extends for securing the fiber by the crimping of the retaining elements.

    Abstract: A catheter retaining means and method for a surgically implanted catheter having an internal tubing portion received within the body and an external tubing portion with a free end extending from an exit site on the body. The retaining means comprises a band of flexible material for being received about the body and over the exit site of the implanted catheter for protecting the site of the body and securely retaining in position proximate to the body the external tubing portion as it extends from the exit site. The band has an opening and a pocket overlying the opening for receiving into the pocket through the opening at least a part of the external tubing portion and its free end for storage therein, the pocket allowing the removal therefrom of the free end and part of the external tubing portion of the catheter for placing it in use.

Each leg is also hingedly secured with the plate at a one of its respective corners for being rotated to a position proximate to the plate when the tray means is stored or transported and rotated away from the plate when the tray means is in use.

    Abstract: A protective cover for optical means, such as binocular optical means, having a pair of exposed lens portions which are spaced apart, comprising first and second cover bodies, each having a lens cap portion for being removably secured over a lens portion of the binoculars. Each of the cover bodies has a connecting portion extending from its cap portion. An attachment means is provided for securing the connecting portions of the bodies to the binoculars at a location intermediate its lens portions. The attachment means allows movement of each of the cap portions between a first position proximate to one of the lens portions and a second position away from and intermediate the lens portion of the binoculars. The attachment means urges each of the bodies towards its second position upon being displaced therefrom, so as to avoid interfering with the binoculars when in use.

A key-actuated lock having locked and unlocked conditions, and an interengagement device actuated by the lock for engaging the switch and locking the switch against movement when the lock is in its locked condition are also contained within the housing. The lock which is rotatable has a cam element provided by an extending tumbler which rotates with the actuation of the lock between its locked and unlocked conditions and actuates the interengaging device toward and away from the switch for engaging and disengaging the control and locking and unlocking the switch.

    Abstract: A ceramic glass material comprising a mixture of fine particles of barium titanate, leaded glass frit and an additive material containing manganese. A ceramic glass body and capacitor made from the material by firing the ceramic glass material to a peak temperature between 900.degree. C. and 1050.degree. C. in a non oxidizing atmosphere at which the glass softens. The capacitor has non precious metal electrodes with a melting point above the firing temperature which are co-fired with the ceramic glass material. Upon cooling the fired ceramic glass material and electrodes form a capacitor with the ceramic glass body separating the electrodes and providing a high dielectric constant and insulation resistance, and a low dissipation factor.

    Abstract: A thick film temperature sensitive device and method of making the same, comprising the steps of applying to the surface of a substrate and firing a resistance material comprising a mixture of glass frit and particles containing palladium and iron. The mixture is fired in a non oxidizing, neutral, or reducing atmosphere at a temperature between 700.degree. C. and 1100.degree. C. at which the glass frit softens. When cooled, a device is provided with a glass film strongly bonded to the substrate and having dispersed therein conductive metal particles of an alloy of palladium and iron. The device provides a relatively high positive temperature coefficient of resistance, a relatively high resistivity, and a resistance to temperature characteristic which is highly linear, and can be processed by spiralling and terminated by the use of electroless plating.
