Patent number: 6845595Abstract: For designing a balanced stair comprising steps with treads (1-15) showing front edges (26), a line of travel (22) is determined on the stair and a reference line is determined onto each step in a predetermined position with respect to the front edge (26) thereof. In contrast to the prior art methods wherein the reference lines, more particularly the front edges (26) or the risers (25) of the steps, are divided along the line of travel (22) on constant mutual distances measured on the line of travel itself, the substantially constant mutual distances (d) between the reference lines is determined according to the invention near the line of travel (22) along a measuring line (27) which is determined for each pair of adjoining reference lines so as to form a substantially constant angle (?) with at least one of the adjoining reference lines thereof. In this way, a stair which is easier to walk on and which automatically shows a more regular nosing line at the outer string (21) is obtained FIG. 8.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2001Date of Patent: January 25, 2005Assignee: MVL Internationale Unternehmen Aktiengesellschaft S.A. Patent number: 6847179Abstract: An actuator position control system for brush-type DC motors. The system includes a sensor, amplifier or differentiator, central control unit (microprocessor), and motor driver. The system utilizes the differential signal di/dt to indicate the falling edges of commutation spikes in the motor current profile. In a first embodiment, an inductor is selected as the signal sensor, because voltage drops across the inductor are directly proportional to di/dt. The voltage drop, L(di/dt), across the inductive sensor is input to the amplifier, amplified, and then sent to the microprocessor. In a second embodiment, a sensing resistor and a differentiator are substituted for the inductive sensor and amplifier, respectively. The microprocessor reads the output pulses from the amplifier or differentiator and compares the pulse count to an input command signal. The microprocessor then sends shaft position control information to the motor driver.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2002Date of Patent: January 25, 2005Assignee: Buehler Motor, Inc.Inventors: Bruce Q. Patent number: 6839085Abstract: An image apparatus has a light-receiving section and a light-blocking section. The light-receiving section receives light from an object to generate an analog video signal. The light-blocking section blocks the light to generate reference signals. The analog video signal is converted into a digital video signal. The reference signals are accumulated a predetermined number of times from a predetermined accumulation starting point on scanning lines forming an image of the object for a specific period. The accumulated signal is averaged to generate an average signal. A reference level of the digital video signal is adjusted based on the average signal so that the difference between the digital video signal and the average signal becomes zero. The number of times for accumulation is decided as 2n that is smaller than a specific number “m”, of the scanning lines for forming the image of the object. The accumulation starting point is decided as (m?2n)/2, “n” and “m” being positive integers.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2000Date of Patent: January 4, 2005Assignee: Victor Company of Japan, Ltd.Inventor: Nobuyuki Matsukawa
