Abstract: Various heterocyclic compounds have been discovered that impart improved fuel economy and friction modification to lubricant and fuel compositions. These heterocyclic compounds of the invention preferably contain nitrogen and may be further reacted with hydrocarbyl carboxylic acid acylating reactants or hydrocarbyl phenolic reactants to give higher molecular materials. These higher molecular weight materials have higher oil-solubility and impart dispersancy properties to lubricant and fuel compositions.

Abstract: Phosphorus-containing compositions and carboxylic ester compositions are described. The esters are useful as synthetic lubes and as lubricants in liquid compositions containing fluorine-containing hydrocarbons. Abstract: The present invention is related to a composition comprising a cementitious material and a hydrocarbyloxyalkyleneoxyalkylenecarboxylic acid or a salt thereof. In one embodiment, the hydrocarbyloxyalkyleneoxyalkylenecarboxylic acid or salt thereof may be represented by the formula:(R.sup.1 O(R.sup.2 O).sub.n (CH.sub.2).sub.y CO.sub.2).sub.x Mwherein R.sup.1 is a hydrocarbyl group, R.sup.2 is an alkylene group, n is at least 1, y is at least 1, M is hydrogen, or a metal cation, and x is the valence of M. A cured cementitious structure comprising the composition and optionally a gas is also disclosed. The cementitious structures exhibit increased freeze-thaw stability.

Abstract: This invention relates to a composition comprising a mixture of a brine and a liquid hydrocarbon, and (A) a viscosity increasing amount of at least one ester of a carboxy-containing interpolymer or salt thereof wherein the interpolymer is prepared by polymerizing an olefin selected from the group consisting of alpha-olefins and vinyl aromatic monomers with at least one alpha, beta-unsaturated carboxylic acylating agent, and provided that when the olefin is vinyl toluene, then the alpha, beta-unsaturated carboxylic acylating agent is an alpha, beta-unsaturated dicarboxylic acylating agent. The compositions of the present invention are useful as drilling fluids as well as completion fluids. The esters of the carboxy-containing interpolymer or salts thereof provide beneficial viscosity, formation stabilization, emulsification and rheology properties to the fluids.

Abstract: The present invention deals with stabilizing triglyceride oils of high oleic content through the use of tocopherol. This combination of the high oleic oil and the tocopherol results in a surprisingly stable composition for use in deep frying.

Abstract: A system and method for transporting and handling in bulk by rail granular material and, in particular, phosphorous pentasulfide granules, is characterized by a hopper for containing the granular material in one or more hopper sections, and an outtake for each hopper section having a vertical leg connected to an outlet opening at the bottom of the hopper section and a horizontal leg into which material drops from the hopper through the bottom outlet opening and the vertical leg. A material conveying line connects the downstream end of the horizontal leg of the outtake or outtakes to a material discharge port through which the material is unloaded from the hopper.

Abstract: A diesel lubricant exhibiting improved ability to minimize undesirable viscosity increases when used in diesel engines is described. More particularly, in accordance with the present invention, a diesel lubricant is described which comprises a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and a minor amount, sufficient to minimize undesirable viscosity increases of the lubricant when used in diesel engines, of a composition comprising (A) at least one carboxylic derivative composition produced by reacting at least one substituted succinic acylating agent with at least one amino compound containing at least one --NH-- group wherein said acylating agent consists of substituent groups and succinic groups wherein the substituent groups are derived from polyalkene characterized by an Mn value of at least about 1200 and an Mw/Mn ratio of at least about 1.5, and wherein said acylating agents are characterized by the presence within their structure of an average of at least about 1.

The present invention provides compositions which are useful as refrigeration liquids in refrigerators and air-conditioners including auto, home and industrial air-conditioners. The invention provides tertiary amides which are compatible with fluorine-containing hydrocarbons used in refrigerators and air-conditioners.

Abstract: The sequence of the T.sub.L -DNA of Ri plasmids found in Agrobacterium rhizogenes strains HRI and A4 is disclosed. Sixteen open reading frames bounded by eukaryotic promoters, ribosome binding sites, and polyadenylation sites were found, five of which were observed to be transcripted in a developmentally and phenotypically regulated manner. The use of promoters and polyadenylation sites from pRi T.sub.L -DNA to control expression of heterologous foreign structural genes is taught, using as examples the structural genes for Phaseolus vulgaris storage protein (phaseolin), P. vulgaris lectin, a sweet protein (thaumatin), and Bacillus thuringiensis crystal protein. Vectors useful for manipulation of sequences of the structural genes and T-DNA are also provided.

A second restriction site may also be positioned downstream from the said restriction site. Precise control of initiation and termination of transcription is attained by this invention. Such control is important in assuring the effectiveness of transcribed RNA viral vectors.A high fidelity in vitro RNA transcription method is also provided utilizing vectors constructed from the universal transcription vector, or other vectors producing transcripts having no more than one extra 5' base. This method is capable of producing functional RNA transcripts, preferably comprising infectious viral sequences.

Abstract: The present invention relates to improved process for beneficiating an ore-containing sulfide material. In particular, the process is useful for beneficiating ores and recovering metals such as gold, copper, lead, molybdenum, zinc, etc., from the ores.
