  • Patent number: 5528079
Abstract: A semiconductor package houses a single two terminal semiconductor component. The package is hermetically sealed and is adapted for surface mounting. The package consists of an open ceramic box that has slots for external leads. A glass seal provides the means for sealing the leads to the ceramic box. The semiconductor element is in a die form and one terminal is directly bonded to one of the external leads. The other terminal is bonded to a clip that in turn is bonded to the other lead. A lid is sealed to the top of the ceramic box to provide the hermetic seal.

  • Patent number: 4361800
Abstract: A probe extends from a two-part plastic housing. The first part has an externally threaded cylindrical section, which is adapted to mate in screw fashion with an internally threaded cylindrical section of the second part. A member is inserted between the parts and includes a cylindrical portion, receivable within the threaded section of the first part for structural reinforcement of the housing, and a flange, positioned adjacent the rim of the first part, to properly locate the member. In one embodiment, the first part and the member are provided with oppositely directed slots which align to form a radially extending channel through which a lead extends. The sides of the channel engage the lead to provide strain protection. A spare bulb mount is provided on the member and extends into a cavity formed in the second part. In a second, self-powered, embodiment, the structure of the member is modified to eliminate the bulb mount to permit a battery to be received within the cavity of the second part.

  • Patent number: 4349283
Abstract: Each hammer includes a frame-like portion with a recess into which an electrically energizable flat coil is received. Affixed to opposite sides of the frame portion, and extending therefrom over the recess in contact with the sides of the coil, are thermally conductive metallic foil sheets which serve to dissipate heat from the coil, retain the coil intact and maintain the proper position of the coil relative to the frame. The exterior surfaces of the sheets form bearing surfaces to protect the hammer and coil from wear caused by contact with other parts of the head as the hammer is displaced. An elongated recess is formed along the axis of a portion of the frame, in the direction of displacement, by cutting transverse slots therein so as to form a plurality of clamping elements, alternate ones of which are situated on opposite sides of the axis.

  • Patent number: 4342797
Abstract: The wet flow characteristic of water-insoluble solid particles such as coal is enhanced by forming on the surface of the solid particles a coating of a fluid having the property of lowering surface tension in aqueous solution, preferably a water solution of a substance from the group consisting of methyl and dimethyl naphthalene sulfonates and ethoxylated linear secondary alcohols, the substances being highly water soluble and the water solution having a low viscosity, a high flash point and low toxicity.

  • Patent number: 4340251
Abstract: A knockdown seat comprises a base member, a seat member and optionally a back member, the seat and back members being supported on the base member. The members are formed of foldable semi-rigid sheet material, such as cardboard, plastics material or sheet metal. In one embodiment the seat is a chair and the seat member and back member each comprise a single sheet folded into a triangular prism and the base member includes two side supports each comprising one sheet folded spirally. Slots in the edges of the sheets of the seat member and the back member double joint them in complementary slots in the upper edges of the side supports. In another embodiment the seat is a stool. The base member comprises one or two sheets having panels forming the support structure of the base member and flaps adapted to bear on the panels forming the seat member. Slots in the flaps and the upper edges of the panels define joints interlocking the seat structure.

  • Patent number: 4338359
Abstract: Low temperature discharge of particulate material from a hopper or the like is facilitated by coating the hopper walls with a water solution of an inorganic freeze point depressant, the solution having a freezing point below about -20.degree. C. and being thickened by the addition thereto of a compatible thickening agent, whereby the substance can be readily applied to the wall and will remain in position on the wall. When the substance is to be used to coat steel or aluminum walls the pH of the substance is modified if necessary to prevent corrosion of the wall without adversely affecting the viscosity of the substance.

  • Patent number: 4193126
Abstract: The memory unit comprises a plurality of bipolar inverter transistors and an equal number of injector transistors, each of which acts as a current source for a different one of the inverter transistors. Means are provided for cross-coupling a first and a second of the inverter transistors to form a flip-flop. Third, fourth and fifth inverter transistors provide input data flow from the data line to the cross-coupled first and second inverters, in accordance with a write control sixth inverter transistor connected to receive a write signal. A seventh inverter transistor provides data output flow between the cross-coupled first and second inverter transistors and the data line in accordance with the read control eighth inverter transistor connected to receive a read signal.
