Abstract: Radial stacking or stockpiling conveyors are utilized to transport material into stockpiles, storage bins, or other places of storage or placement. The conveyor of the invention has a conveyor frame and an undercarriage that supports the frame and includes a front push arm and a rear push arm and a wheel assembly. The front end of the conveyor frame can be raised and lowered, and the conveyor frame can be swung slowly about the pivot point at the tail end of the conveyor, travelling on the wheel assembly along an arcuate path. To facilitate raising and lowering of the conveyor frame while maintaining a constant pivot radius of travel, a curved cam slot is provided on the conveyor frame through which the top of the rear push arm travels as the conveyor frame is raised and lowered.
Abstract: A foldable, portable seat structure made from preformed blanks of sheet material such as cardboard. When assembled and folded into a flat position, the seat is easily carried, and the structure has finger holes that facilitate unfolding into a useable seat.
Abstract: A microprocessor controlled infrared-light based system that indicates eye and head position in real-time, so as to enable a computer user to control cursor movement on a computer display by moving his or her eyes or head. By activating the system using a designated key on a standard keyboard or by using a foot operated switch, the user can, by moving the eyes and head, position the cursor at any point on the display in the same manner as the conventional mouse, thereby allowing use of presently available software and hardware.
Abstract: This invention relates generally to a system for increasing the thermodynamic efficiency of internal combustion engines. In the system of the invention, the unused heat generated during normal engine operation in the exhaust gases, lubricating oil and engine coolant is utilized to compress air which produces additional energy that performs additional work in the engine system by means of a modified Rankine cycle. This same system used to maximize efficiency and increase power also acts to reduce pollutants in the exhaust emissions.
Abstract: A method for generating a three-dimensional spatial image that has a greatly improved three-dimensional (3-D) effect. The method utilizes a series of two dimensional stereoscopic image pairs which have been composed by different scenes photographed on different bases or computer generated using a single channel or multi-channel optical image projector, beam splitter, camera, and a retro-reflective screen.
Abstract: A device for mixing fluid materials using chaotic flow combined with sonic energy. The device includes sine wave baffles to produce mixing by folding, stretching and breaking the material as it continuously flows and simultaneously chopping the mixed material with vorticular motion using pressure fronts produced by sonic energy generators.
Abstract: The invention relates to a means of deterring the theft of the medallion of a vehicle hood ornament. By substituting for the wire clip of the conventional hood ornament assembly a protective sleeve in which is contained a cotter pin having its upper portion or head heat treated to harden it, the assembly provides substantial resistance to the medallion being manually pulled out of the mounting base to expose any portion of the cotter pin. If the cotter pin is exposed, the hardened steel head portion and protective sleeve resist cutting by ordinary hand tools.
Abstract: A system for generating hydrogen and oxygen gases that are mixed with fuel supplied to the engine of a vehicle. The system includes a generating unit that utilizes electrolysis to produce the gases from the electrolyte. The anode and cathode plates of the generating unit are made of stainless steel, and the electrolyte is glacial acetic which produces the hydrogen and oxygen with a minimum amount of sediment and no deterioration of the plates.
Abstract: An apparatus for separating materials into different sized particles, especially difficult materials that may contain wet or sticky particles or lightweight foreign material. The material is separated by feeding it into a dish-shaped unit open at the top with screen material along its sides and bottom. The unit is rotated about an inclined axis so that the open top faces upwardly and toward the front. The material to be separated is placed into the unit, and the unit is rotated so that the material rolls on itself across the bottom and up the sides with the smaller particles moving downwardly where they pass through the screened sides and bottom as the unit rotates over a conveyor. The larger particles exit through the open top of the unit. The apparatus also includes a unique way of providing for the screen medium.
Abstract: A hog farrowing crate and pen has side finger bars which are adjustable to vary the farrowing area. Adjustability is achieved by pivoting each of the side finger bars at one end of the crate with the opposite ends secured in a selected fixed position at the opposite end of the crate. Preferably, at least one of the side finger bars is straight while the other bar has a long straight portion and a shorter straight portion at an angle to the long portion. The swingable adjustment of the side finger bars provides for varying the size of the farrowing, pre-stall and creep areas during the stages of farrowing, post-farrowing and weaning.
Abstract: A portable body restraint device for use in restraining and transporting prisoners or patients who are unmanageable. The device includes a flat, wide board sufficiently large to receive facedown the person to be restrained. The board is provided with properly positioned slots and adjustable straps that provide for restraining any person regardless of his or her size. The slots and adjustable straps permit the person's pelvis, chest, wrists, ankles, arms and legs to be secured as well as the person's head.
Abstract: The invention provides a ligature that has a defining formed shape and is affixed and integrated with the formed shape of the orthodontic bracket. The ligature can be repeatedly opened, closed, locked, or unlocked, in its integrated relation to the bracket. If necessary, the entire integrated ligature can be removed and replaced. Also, the removed ligature can be replaced by a similar ligature having a variance in the defining formed shape thereof. The integrated ligature has properties of, shape memory, elasticity, flexibility, and resistance to fatigue. The bracket has one or more arch wire receiving channels therein. The bracket also has, in addition to its relation to the integrated ligature, retention concavities in the upper and lower sides of the bracket to provide retention areas for auxiliary devices and/or supplemental ligatures.
Abstract: A seat spring unit for use in the seats of vehicles, chairs, sofas and the like. The unit utilizes flat spring steel members arranged in a generally parallel arrangement from the front to rear frame members of the seat. Each of the spring steel members is formed with one of more downwardly extending vee-arches near the front and/or rear frame member to provide flexibility, comfort and support for the seat cushions while greatly simplifying the structure of the unit. Additionally, the center portion of each spring member has an upwardly crowned area between the vee-arches to better control the load deflection.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for treating soil contaminated with hydrocarbons by breaking up the soil into discretes and passing the particles through an open flame to cause the volatile substances in them to vaporize and burn. The apparatus is preferably portable and provides for continuous processing of the contaminated soil on-site so that it can be immediately returned to the ground free from contamination.

Abstract: A discharge chute for emptying the debris from trash receptacles, especially receptacles of a cylindrical shape and which have a normally closed clean-out opening in the sidewall near the bottom of the receptacle. The chute has a downwardly extending lip that engages the front edge of the opening in the trash receptacle and outwardly extending tabs that clip behind the sidewall of the receptacle adjacent the opening so as to secure the chute in place during use.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming the locking bend on a Pittsburgh type seam used in joining the sections during assembly of box-shaped sheet metal ducts. The apparatus provides a means for securely holding the duct without the use of a mandrel to permit the sheet metal along the seam to be bent over by a forming roller moving along the seam so as to complete the joint and lock the seam.
Abstract: An automated concrete pipe making machine that utilizes an automatic feeding system in which a feed tray and its feed pan are mounted on a carrier that moves from a retracted position into a feeding position where the feed tray is aligned with and locked to the pan at the top of the form or forms to be filled. At the appropriate time after the forms have been filled, the feed pan is withdrawn onto the feed tray, which is then unlocked from the top of the form and retracted.
