    Abstract: Inhibitors of esterase-producing micro-organisms comprise, as active ingredient, a benzyl or phenyl benzoyloxybenzoate (I) which is hydrolysed by esterases to produce three mononucler benzene compounds which between them bear at least two hydroxyl and two carboxyl substances, and which which an anti-microbial action. The inhibitors may be formulated as personal deodorants or dermatological agents.
