  • Patent number: 4159797
Abstract: A tray and blank therefor constituting a shipping container with two or more open top compartments separated by a divider especially constructed to act as a strut to rigidify the tray and to support the central region of the bottom wall of the tray against bulging or sagging. The divider includes a horizontal top panel and a pair of integral vertical flaps all extending from side to side of the tray and the pair of vertical flaps also extending from fold lines along the edges of the top panel downwardly to the bottom panel thus forming a rigid hollow strut of rectangular cross section. Glue flaps integrally formed in the bottom panel are bent upwardly along spaced parallel lines into vertical planes and are adhesively secured to the inner surfaces of the vertical divider flaps inside the divider or strut.

  • Patent number: 4132592
Abstract: In an apparatus for forming a non-woven, fibrous web, a device for making a uniform density dispersion of the fibers in an aqueous fiber slurry and depositing the dispersion onto a web former, while maintaining its integrity. The device includes a generally laterally divergent channel, in which the greatest depth of the flowing stream of fiber slurry is at its fiber slurry entry end, having rolls for uniformly dispersing the fibers, rolls for uniformly spreading the dispersion laterally throughout the channel, and means in cooperation with the rolls for moving the dispersion to an exit end of the channel adjacent the web former. Preferably, the device is equipped with air doctors directed at the rolls for insuring the separation of the dispersion from each roll as it is moved to another roll.

  • Patent number: 4066868
Abstract: The disclosed invention describes an apparatus and method for bringing a system having high interactive portions to a predetermined temperature distribution. The invention includes a difference controller which provides, through two separate drivers, a fixed total amount of energy to the system being controlled. If the system being controlled also has a long cycle time, second and third temperature controllers may be used to bring the system to the equilibrium temperature with a minimum amount of overshoot. The invention is particularly advantageous when used in connection with a high pressure, high temperature vessel useful in growing quartz crystals.

  • Patent number: 4063941
Abstract: Method for loading and unloading of isostatic presses of the type wherein pre-formed, or equivalent, shapes of powdered metal, ceramics, clay and the like are compressed under very high pressures to form compacts suitable for use as such or for subsequent operations, such as forging, machining, firing or the like as may be appropriate for the particular powdered material. Method is disclosed in connection with the use of an isostatic press having a container including a cylindrical sleeve of elastomeric material for receiving the objects to be compressed under pressure of hydraulic fluid applied to exterior of the container. Bodies of rigid or elastomeric material which also may serve as plugs for the ends of the sleeve are movable from inside to outside the press to positions to receive a pre-form.
