  • Patent number: 8130107
Abstract: A system and method for detecting leaks using sensors to report the leak and communicate with a control unit to turn off the source of the leak once detected. A valve can be turned off in the event of a leak and embodiments employing battery power can function during loss of power such as a power blackout. Wireless sensors can be employed to detect leaks that wirelessly communicate with a control and operate solely with a designated control unit. The wireless sensors can operate using low power provided by batteries. The control panel can display alarm conditions from the sensors, including: low battery, poor signal, wet sensor, communication failure, sensor failure.

  • Patent number: 8105125
Abstract: A buoyant device that enhances water activities and surfing by providing increased thrust from incident waves through utilization of a surface or volume to propel the buoyant device. A buoyant enclosure with an internal hand grip has surfaces that promote hydroplaning, flotation and the reduction of friction through the shape, materials and laminations used to manufacture the device. At least one of the surfaces can engage moving water allowing a user to benefit from the thrust of a wave to increase propulsion. A shape that combines a planar bottom surface with planar area to at least one side surface forms a wave wall to enhance propulsion from the force of a wave. Hydroplaning is enhanced using material with increased buoyancy to improve the body surfing experience. The devices are hand held by the user and can be used independently or combined to function as a single device.

  • Patent number: 6484002
Abstract: A document printer/copier comprises a pair of drum-support members for rotatably supporting an image-recording drum and, optionally, an intermediate image-transfer drum. At least one of such drum-support members is adapted to be decoupled from the drum(s) it supports and be moved to a position within the machine frame in which it does interfere with the replacement of the drum(s)'s outer layer. Preferably, such member comprises a selectively energizable clamp which, when energized, clamps onto an axle bearing of a drum and thereby supports the drum for rotation. When de-energized, the clamp releases the drum bearing, enabling the drum-support member to be slid axially along the drum axis to a position spaced from the drum axle, and thereafter pivoted to a position spaced from the drum axis where it does not interfere with drum servicing and/or replacement.

  • Patent number: 6295416
Abstract: A novel exposure frame counter is disclosed that gives the appearance of more expensive LCD type displays while not requiring the support electronics and has the ability to erase itself after being used. A disc of low permeable magnetic material has exposure frame numbers recorded into the material in a selected manner so as to create a desired magnetic field. A magnetic micro-shutter is used to create the exposure frame numbers by placing individual micro-shutters over the disc which react to the magnetic field of the disc to form numerals that indicate the exposure frame the camera is on. When the camera is advanced, the section of the disc that was indicating the exposure frame advances to the next frame and the previous frame passes across a field created by a strong permanent magnet and is erased by the permanent magnet. The magnetic micro-shutters of the exposure frame counter are formed essentially as a seven-segment display to form the numerals of the exposure frame counter.

  • Patent number: 6288719
Abstract: A method of constructing a photo album wherein a plurality of digital images are provided in a low resolution format on sticker sheets that have a unique identifier that cross references the reduced resolution images digital images with a high resolution version that is stored in a data base, a second set of sticker sheets is provided that functions as pages of a photoalbum having positions for the low resolution image stickers. The sticker sheet pages are loaded with low resolution stickers creating the pages for the photoalbum and the sticker sheet pages are then arranged in a desired manner on a page layout form resulting in a miniature version of the photoalbum which can be viewed at that point. The miniature version of the photo album is then correlated to the high resolution version of the images stored in the database to retrieve a high resolution version of the photo album which is then produced using conventional photofinishing techniques.

  • Patent number: 6278531
Abstract: An image handling method and system for executing the method wherein hardcopy images are scanned at a scanner station, to obtain a corresponding set of digital image signals. Each of the digital sets of image signals is assigned an associated unique identification. The digital signal sets and their associated identification are communicated to a hub station which is remote from the scanner station, and then forwarded to a terminal which is remote from both the hub station and the scanning station via a route independent of the hub station. Storage for the communicated image set signals and associated identification are provided at the hub station.

  • Patent number: 6268231
Abstract: A packaging solution for CCD devices and other opto-electronic applications that offers a lower cost, automated assembly process. A package made of a moldable plastic material with low moisture permeability, and high dimensional stability by employing materials such as liquid crystal polymer. While relatively high cost plastic materials may be used, the overall cost is expected to be substantially lower than a corresponding ceramic package. An interconnect circuit pattern is then be formed on the plastic using one of a variety of plating options known in the circuit board, and in the molded interconnect industry. The ability to mold a flexible circuits into the package results from the use of these materials. Conductors of standard materials in the circuit board industry; e.g., copper with selective nickel and gold plating are employed on a non reflective substrate surface. The CCD sensor is mounted to this plastic substrate and connected to the conductive pattern using standard wire bonding processes.
