  • Patent number: 6511657
Abstract: A two-phase roll-on antiperspirant and/or deodorant is described which comprises: (a) a clear, translucent or opaque non-polar phase having a viscosity in the range of 20 cps-9,000 made by combining: a cross-linked or partially cross-linked non-emulsifying siloxane elastomer; 0.1-70 weight % of one or more low viscosity, lipophilic emollients; (b) a clear, translucent or opaque polar phase have a viscosity in the range of 20-9,000 cps made by combining: one or more members selected from the group consisting of water, glycols and polyhydric alcohols; and an antiperspirant active salt which is soluble or suspendible in the polar phase; wherein the polar phase comprises (i) a sufficient amount of water, glycols or polyhydric alcohols to dissolve or suspend the antiperspirant active, and (ii) optionally may comprise up to 30 weight % water; up to 16.00 weight % of ethyl alcohol; up to 16 weight % isopropyl alcohol; or mixtures of the foregoing; (iii) 0.1-2.

  • Patent number: 6451295
Abstract: Clear antiperspirant and/or deodorant compositions, especially clear sticks having good structural integrity, can be formed by incorporating at least 8% by weight based on the total weight of the composition of a selected siliconized polyamide into a product formulated with at least one silicone material and at least one non-silicone emollient. The siliconized polyamides have the silicone portion in the acid side of the polyamide and are selected so that: (a) the degree of polymerization in the silicone portion is in the range of 12-18; (b) the average molecular weight of the siliconized polyamide is at least 50,000 daltons with at least 95% of the polyamide having a molecular weight greater than 10,000 as measured by size exclusion chromatography; and (c) the polydispersity is less than 20.

  • Patent number: 5486566
Abstract: A gel suitable for use in various personal care applications is provided. The improved gel contains an amide-free gelator; a siloxane polyether for strengthening the gel, and increasing its firmness, rigidity, and adhesion to substrates; and a volatile methyl siloxane. Preferably, the gel includes 1 to 98.9 percent by weight of the siloxane polyether; 0.1 to 20 percent by weight of 12-hydroxystearic acid or metal salts of 12-hydroxystearic acid; and 1 to 98.9 percent by weight of a volatile methyl siloxane having a boiling point less than two hundred-fifty degrees Centigrade and a viscosity of 0.65 to about 5.0 centistoke (mm.sup.2 /s).
