Abstract: This invention relates to a method for rolling control of an airplane by means of spoilers mounted at lift surfaces, which comprises subdividing the entire control range into a plurality of firmly graduated and successively adjustable control steps, and adjusting the individual control steps by means of a series of different partial spoiler surfaces actuatable in dependence upon each other either individually or in combination. The invention also relates to an apparatus for performing the method.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of planographic printing forms is described, in which a light-sensitive material composed of a support having a hydrophilic surface and of a light-sensitive layer, which contains a 1,2-naphthoquinone-diazide, is exposed imagewise, developed and then heated to a temperature above 180.degree. C. for such a time and at such a temperature level that an oleophilic precipitate is formed on the hydrophilic image background, and the precipitate is then removed by treatment, for example wiping over, with an aqueous solution of about 0.01 to 50% by weight of polyvinyl phosphonic acid. The treatment has the advantage that in this case the support surface, for example anodically produced aluminum oxide, is not significantly attacked and is nevertheless completely freed from impurities.

Abstract: An improved decorticating drum with a selective mode of processing is disclosed, composed of a hollow cylinder horizontally resting on support rollers and being rotatable about its longitudinal axis, being adapted to receive wood fed in at one end and discharge it at the other, in particular a decorticating drum for dry debarking including longitudinal slots at the surface thereof for the elimination of the bark, the improvement comprises detachable covers in the region of the longitudinal slots whereby a wet decorticating drum may be formed, said covers resting against the outer surface of the drum.

Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in a circuit arrangement for defined current sharing, between parallel-connected switching regulator modules in DC switching regulators with continuous inductor current and common error amplifiers for the purpose of generating regulated DC voltage from an unregulated voltage source, the improvement comprising means in each switching regulator module, composed of an inductor, a semi-conductor switch, a free-wheeling diode and a pulse-width modulator, whereby for the purpose of controlling the pulse-width modulator a signal proportional to the time-varying inductor current of the individual switching regulator module is negatively fed back to the output signal of the error amplifier, and where the signal resulting therefrom is used to control the pulse-width of the corresponding switching regulator module.

Abstract: A circuit is described which makes use of a mathematical transformation based solely on AND and OR connections for the purpose of recognizing patterns, and a process for localizing this pattern within a zone or range. By means of the direct connection of AND and OR gates, a completely parallel processing of each individual bit is achieved in the arithmetic and logic unit so implemented, which signifies a fraction of the processing time as compared to full adders. Simultaneously the equipment is capable of recognizing a specific pattern (object) from a multitude of mutually nested structures (neighborhood) and to localize it by a subsequent procedure.

Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in a copying process wherein a latent image produced on a chargeable imaging surface by electrostatic charging and exposure is developed by means of an aqueous ink and transferred onto a receiving material and the imaging surface is then cleaned, the improvement being that the imaging surface has a completely smooth, hydrophobic surface which preferably is not wetted by the aqueous ink applied by means of a known structured applicator element, and the cleaning liquid used to detach residual ink still present after transfer can be easily wiped off and forms a wetting angle of more than 90.degree. with the imaging surface.The invention also relates to the developer liquid and the cleaning liquid used in the process.

Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in an electrophotographic recording material comprising an electrically conductive support, in particular a support adapted for the preparation of printing forms or printed circuits, and a panchromatically sensitized photoconductive layer which comprises an organic photoconductor, a binder, a sensitizing dye, and conventional additives, the improvement that the photoconductive layer contains, as the sensitizing dye, a mixture of a polymethine dye and a triarylmethane dye which absorb, respectively, between about 400 and 550 nm and between about 550 nm and 720 nm.

Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in the process for performing aluminothermic rail connection weldings, in which the rail ends to be welded together and being laid with a gap are enclosed with a fireproof, prefabricated casting mold producing a weld reinforcement covering the gap, and aluminothermically-produced steel is poured into the casting mold cavity, the improvement comprising pouring the steel melt into the casting mold in the form of at least two separate casting streams positioned opposite each other in the longitudinal rail direction, whereby the casting streams are so guided that they will intermix approximately in the area of the rail head center of the two rails to be welded together. The invention also relates to a casting mold for performing the process.

Abstract: This invention relates to a process for preparing swellable cross-linked carboxyalkylcelluloses by reacting cellulose, a carboxyalkylating etherifying agent, and a cross-linking agent in an aqueous alkaline medium, comprising effecting alkalizing, etherifying, and cross-linking simultaneously in one reaction step using fibers, textile sheet materials containing these fibers, or sheet materials of other kinds, having a base of cellulose hydrate or of natural cellulose, by contacting said fibers or sheet materials with an ample quantity of an aqueous alkaline reaction mixture, removing part of the reaction mixture from the fibers or sheet materials contacted therewith, so that at least the quantity required for reaction is still present, and treating the fibers or sheet materials containing the remainder of the aqueous alkaline reaction mixture with heat energy. The invention also relates to equipment for performing the process.
