  • Patent number: 6152573
Abstract: A light assembly has a translucent lens which is flexibly mounted to a mounting bracket containing a light source. The lens has a series of spaced-apart members located near its upper and lower edges. The members are mounted in holes in the lens and extend through both sides of the lens to form rigid protrusions. The mounting bracket is an extruded metal member with a retention joint on each end. Each retention joint has a pair of fingers which define a narrow recess with an internal lip. The width of the lens is greater than the distance between the retention joints so that the lens may be flexed into a bowed configuration. The light assembly is designed to be mounted as a sign which extends circumferencially around a structure or building. The mounting bracket is secured to the building. The lens is installed by first inserting its lower edge into the recess on the lower retention joint of the mounting bracket.

  • Patent number: 6047776
Abstract: An angled passageway is provided in a tubing head of a wellhead assembly for reducing an angle of bend in a control line exiting from a tubing hanger. The angled passageway extends from the bottom to the top of the tubing hanger and is angled relative to the longitudinal axis. By traversing the longitudinal axis with the angled passageway, a sufficient angular orientation of the control line is achieved to minimize bend in the control tube. Another embodiment teaches an upper angled passageway segment in communication with a lower angled passageway segment that interface with one another at an angle. By providing two interacting angled passageways, the required angle of bend of the control tube exiting from the tubing hanger is further reduced.

  • Patent number: 6037594
Abstract: A passive infrared motion detector that creates a detection pattern with non-diverging insensitive zones. The sensing elements are of alternating polarity and each has a width w. An optical collection system directs infrared radiation onto the sensing elements. The sensing elements are separated by a distance equal to an integer multiple of width w, with the integer being at least two. The optical centers of the optical collection system are separated by an integer multiple of width w, with the integer being at least two. The arrangement of the optical centers and the sensing elements results in a detection pattern with non-diverging insensitive zones, with the insensitive zones having a negligible width.

  • Patent number: 6016880
Abstract: A drilling head has a body which lands in an external housing. The body is removably secured to the housing with an annular split ring which is moveable in response to a cam member. The body has an outer body and a rotatable inner body with an axial bore. An annulus extends between the inner and outer bodies. Inlet and outlet ports communicate hydraulic fluid to the annulus which is sealed. The inner body has a gripping member with inner and outer portions. The inner portion has a solid annular elastomer which is free to slide radially relative to the inner body. The outer diameter of the inner portion abuts the outer portion. The outer portion has an energizable elastomer with an annular cavity. The cavity communicates with the annulus through a passage. A primary seal extends from a lower end of the inner body. The seal has a conical elastomer and reinforcement webs to give the elastomer greater rigidity in the upward direction.
