  • Patent number: 8152887
Abstract: An improved air/oil separator assembly for removal of oil from a gaseous stream is disclosed. The air/oil separator includes a head flange and an end plate positioned in a spaced-parallel relationship. A first and a second elongated support member and an outer jacket are concentrically arranged and secured along opposing ends to the head flange and end plate. A first separator element is secured in a position proximate to and outboard of the first support member and a second separator element is secured in a position proximate to and outboard of the second support member. A pre-separator element is secured in a position proximate to and outboard of the second separator element but inboard of the outer jacket. The pre-separator and separator elements are operative to remove oil from the gaseous stream. The pre-separator improves oil removal performance by removing a significant amount of oil before it reaches the separator elements.

  • Patent number: 8088190
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved axial flow unitary filter element for filtering a fluid stream, examples including a gaseous or an air stream. The filter element includes a primary filter portion and a pre-separation filter portion. The portions of said filter element are permanently integrated such that the portions form said unitary or one-piece filter element. The pre-separation portion is permanently secured and fully peripherally sealed about its peripheral portions to the primary filter such that a gaseous stream entering said inlet face of the primary filter must first pass through the pre-separation filter portion of the filter element. The pre-separation portion protects the primary filter portion from becoming water logged due to the presence of water droplets or snow in the fluid stream.

  • Patent number: 8038878
Abstract: A simple, low cost, replaceable coolant filtering is integrated in a coolant reservoir bottle or reservoir tank of an internal engine liquid cooling system. The coolant filtering system intercepts coolant flowing between the engine cooling system and the coolant reservoir, removing particulates from the coolant by filtration, entrapping the removed particulates on the filter media as well as capturing larger particulates into a drainable cup-like depression provided within the coolant reservoir. Also a coolant bypass passage is operative to permit coolant to bypass the filter should the filter media become blocked with contaminants.
