Abstract: A safety hatch and safety railing assembly in unitary form which incorporates the fabrication of a roof or deck scuttle with safety guard rails as required by the Occupation Safety Hazards Act (OSHA) around the roof or deck opening of a building. The safety hatch or safety hatch and safety railing assembly of the present invention preferably employs safety railing mounting bracket components that are welded to hatch flashing or to bracket hanger members and are designed to receive and provide for safe and efficient mounting of vertical posts and rails of a safety railing assembly around a roof or deck access opening. The safety hatch and safety railing assembly provides an improved base flashing that additionally functions to hold the roofing membrane to the scuttle curb.
Abstract: A mounting base mechanism for releasably securing an accessory device to a mechanical structure having opposed oppositely angulated clamp surfaces. The mounting base mechanism defines a first clamp surface having clamping engagement with one of the angulated clamp surfaces. A clamp support structure projects laterally from the mounting base mechanism and provides support for a clamp actuating mechanism having a clamping plate. A retainer device supported by the clamp support structure is operative to move the clamping plate substantially linearly for clamping engagement of the clamp plate with the other of the oppositely angulated clamp surfaces. A keeper member prevents inadvertent separation of the retainer and clamping plate from the clamp support structure.
Abstract: A hand-guard and barrel nut clamping assembly for tactical firearms and other mechanical equipment that is subject to frequent or sustained vibration or shock, such as when a firearm is subjected to sustained rapid fire and/or the firearm is handled roughly. A small generally half-moon shaped anti-rotation clamping member is secured to a hand-guard support element or other suitable structure by socket head cap screws and is secured in frictional contact with components of the hand-guard mount and a barrel nut. The anti-rotation clamping member functions as a key to “tie” the barrel nut and hand-guard nut together, simultaneously preventing either one from rotating, and thus preventing inadvertent vibration or shock induced loosening of either the hand-guard retainer nut or the barrel nut. The anti-rotation clamping member is also keyed onto the front of the upper receiver by a slot into which a portion of the receiver is engaged.
Abstract: A skimmer system for removing a substantially liquid substance such as oil floating on the surface of a body of water has a reservoir body defining an collected fluid reservoir and having a primary weir edge. A weir tube extends upwardly within the reservoir and provides a secondary weir edge being of less height than the primary weir edge and defines a vortex chamber. A plurality of buoyancy members support the reservoir body in relation to the surface of the body of water and are adjustable relative to the reservoir body by power operated or mechanical devices for selective positioning of said primary weir edge relative to the water surface. A pump having a suction inlet is in communication with the vortex chamber and has a discharge outlet conducting recovered oil to a collection barge. A power source such as a hydraulic fluid supply is connected in driving relation with the pump.

Abstract: A personal cabinet for jewelry, tobacco products and implements or other items has a housing mount. An actuator housing is located within the housing mount and defines an actuator housing receptacle. A spring urged inner case is movably connected with the actuator housing within the actuator housing receptacle and is linearly moveable to a contracted position and a projected position relative to the actuator housing and housing mount. A latch mechanism retains the inner case at the contracted position and a latch release mechanism is operated to release the inner case for spring urged linear movement to its projected position. A closure is pivotally mounted to the inner case and can be opened only when the inner case has been moved to its projected position.
Abstract: A universal magazine release mechanism for firearms has a frame defining a cartridge magazine chamber receiving a cartridge magazine and having a magazine release receptacle intersecting the cartridge magazine chamber. A magazine release member is mounted within the magazine release receptacle and has linear movement to a magazine retaining position and a magazine release position. A spring urges the magazine release member toward the magazine retaining position. A magazine release button extends from the magazine release member and is exposed externally of the firearm frame for engagement and linear movement by the thumb of a user's hand. The magazine release member is selectively positioned to locate the magazine release button for thumb actuation by a right-handed user or a left-handed user.
Abstract: An expanding gate valve having a valve body defining a valve chamber and flow passages and having spaced sealing surfaces. Gate members are moveable within the valve body between open and closed positions and at the closed position having sealing engagement with the spaced sealing surfaces. A wedge member is positioned between the gate members and has at least one tapered surface having reacting engagement with a tapered surface of one of the gate members so that relative linear movement of the gate member relative to the tapered surface of the wedge member develops a lateral gate expansion force causing expansion of the gate members for tight sealing engagement with the spaced sealing surfaces.
Abstract: A pivot mount base is assembled to or removed from the sight mounting rail of a firearm by a lever actuated cam energized rail clamping mechanism. The pivot mount base supports and provides for rotational and linear movement of a pivot shaft. A pivot shaft locator pin extending transversely through the pivot shaft is adapted to be selectively received in position controlling relation by pairs of aligned shaft location receptacles defined by the pivot mount base. A sight support device is fixed to the pivot shaft and serves to retain a firearm sighting device. The sight support device and sighting device are moveable between an operative position where the sighting device can be used to sight the firearm on a target and an inoperative position where the sighting device is positioned laterally offset from its operative position.
Abstract: A coolant fluid supplying tool post is mounted to a machining system for machine controlled movement and has an internal coolant passage system, a coolant fluid inlet, a coolant fluid outlet and a first dove-tail mount. A multiple machine tool support block has a second dove-tail mount is in supported engagement with the first dove-tail mount. A plurality of machine tool receptacles are defined in the multiple machine tool support block and each is adapted for support of a machine tool therein. Tool retainer members are carried by the multiple machine tool support block for each of the machine tool receptacles and has retaining engagement with a machine tool located within a machine tool receptacle. Coolant passages within the multiple machine tool support block have a coolant supply inlet in fluid communication with the coolant fluid outlet of the coolant fluid supplying tool post.
Abstract: A trunnion type ball valve having valve seats that are laterally moveable within seat recesses of the valve and establish sealing engagement with a valve ball member that is trunnion supported for rotational movement between open and closed positions. The valve seat members are self-centering for optimum sealing engagement with the spherical sealing surface of the ball member. The internal geometry of the seat assemblies are designed to permit optimum flow through the valve mechanism even under circumstances where the seat members are located in laterally off-center relation with respect to the centerline of the flow passages due to self-centering seat movement. The ball valve is readily adapted for fire-safe application via the use of heat resistant seals and metal-to-metal sealing of components to prevent or minimize leakage in the event of seal destruction or degradation by excess heat.
Abstract: A golf club, particularly a “putter” or “chipper”, is provided with a concave ball striking face that establishes line contact with a golf ball rather than the usual point contact and enhances the capability of a user to control the direction of ball movement resulting from a golf stroke. The concave ball striking surface may be curved and may have the same or greater curvature than the curvature of a golf ball and may have smoothly and gently merging surface regions of compound curvature. The concave ball striking face surface may have compound regions including a curved region and a planar region being smoothly and gently merged. The concave ball striking surface may be defined on an integral metal club head structure or may be defined by a polymer insert that is recessed into an insert receiving receptacle of the club head.
Abstract: An improved safety railing for use with an opening in a rooftop or other location. The safety railing is easily securable to the curb, or upstanding wall, surrounding the opening. The securing mechanism of the safety railing also takes advantage of any outwardly protruding lip on the curb of the opening. The safety railing features a base portion that is reversibly securable to the curb portion of the opening and a railing portion that rises above the base portion. The base portion includes a pair of side members that are shaped and sized to abut the upstanding portion of the curb. Each of the curb members also present a surface to underlie the lip of the curb and engage it if the base portion is lifted. The base portion also includes two base members that interconnect the two side members. The base members are preferably formed of round hollow stock and have threaded nuts welded to each axial end. Threaded bolts are used to affix the side members to the base members.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cleaning and/or disinfecting floor surfaces. A floor service trolley defines mop cloth container receptacles and a soiled mop cloth receptacle. Rectangular tapered mop cloth containers are supported by the container receptacle and define an upper sealing rim. A closure defines a seal recess containing a sealing member establishing a seal between the upper sealing rim and the closure preventing leakage of liquid from the container when it is inverted. Mop cloths are stacked within the container and are evenly pre-impregnated with cleaning solution by adding cleaning solution to the container of mop cloths, assembling the closure in sealed relation with the container and inverting the container for a sufficient period of time for saturation of the mop cloths by action of osmosis.
Abstract: A well logging instrument that has a neutron source for irradiating earth formations traversing a borehole used in deriving useful information pertaining to said formations. Three detectors are mounted in a spaced-apart vertical relationship within a pressure-resistant housing. The detectors nearest and farthest from the neutron source detect thermal neutrons while the third detector from the neutron source detects a rare earth compensated aggregate capture gamma ray spectrum. By comparing the irradiated formations as detected by the three detectors, certain formation fluid, matrix, and pore volume parameters are derived. Also, by comparing the count rates of high and low energy ranges of the third detector in earth coal formation matrix, an ash volume is determined. From this value, a bulk density is derived from the corresponding earth coal formation.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming multiple lateral passages from a wellbore into a subsurface earth formation to facilitate enhancement of the production of oil, gas, heavy oil or minerals from the formation. A plurality of lateral passages are formed from a wellbore into a subsurface formation through the use of a single-run passage forming tool to minimize rig time and associated costs. A downhole indexing tool is positioned downhole and has indexing sections for positioning and indexing of a downhole well service tool and establishes precise radial orientation and location of the tool for its well servicing operation. Sequential unidirectional rotational indexing is accomplished by an indexing control stinger having a J-slot indexing system defining a circumferential slot section defining a desired number of indexing positions that are sequenced responsive to linear reciprocating movement of the indexing control stinger.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for production of material from a subsurface earth formation being intersected by a wellbore that is lined with a well casing. After preparing the well casing by forming injection and production openings or removing a section of the casing to define a borehole interval, a plurality of lateral injection and production passages are formed that extend into the subsurface earth formation from the casing openings or borehole interval. Packers within the well casing define an injection compartment that is in communication with the lateral injection passages and a production compartment that is isolated from the injection compartment. Steam or other injection fluid is injected into the formation via an injection conduit extending from the surface to the injection compartment. Formation fluid migrating through the formation to the production passages is produced via a production conduit extending from the surface to the production compartment.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing reinforced wall panels and reinforced roof panels and using the pre-manufactured reinforced wall and roof panels in the construction of a building structure at a building site. The reinforced wall and roof panels are molded using a molding medium consisting of two part polyurethane which is mixed with Portland cement. Reinforcing members and exterior weather resistant materials are placed within a mold and the mold is filled with the molding medium by injection or by pouring. The filled mold is then placed within a press to ensure against expansion by internal pressure caused by curing of the molding medium, thus ensuring dimensional accuracy of the finished panel. After hardening of the molding medium, the mold is removed from the press, opened and the finished panel is removed from the mold and is stored until the molding medium has completely cured. The reinforcing members and weather resistant material constitute integral components of the building panel structure.
