  • Patent number: 7287006
Abstract: A method and computer apparatus determines the value of a derivative by introducing risk premiums. The method includes determining the underlying security and derivative, determining the risks and trading costs associated with the derivative, formulating the RAP equation for the derivative, solving the RAP equation for the derivative and outputting a value of the derivative based on the solution of the RAP equation. The computer apparatus employs this method in a financial analysis application. The system includes an input unit for taking inputs of derivative characteristics and model parameters, a processing unit for computing a value of the derivative based on the input characteristics and parameters using a risk-adjusted pricing equation, and an output unit for displaying the value of the derivative.

  • Patent number: 7232197
Abstract: A fire-safe electronic data storage protection device is provided which allows all-time data storage backup and protection. A preferred embodiment of the device includes a fire-proof enclosure having an openable and closeable door which can be opened after the device is exposed to a fire. The enclosure is of a sufficient size to store an electronic data storage device such as a ZipĀ® drive or CD-ROM storage device or the like. Further, the walls of the enclosure are insulated to withstand fire and carry electronic connection and data relay cords, so that the electronic storage device inside may be in continuous connection with a main database and a power supply. The electrical and communication cords are configured within the insulation and walls of the enclosure to ensure no fire reaches the inside of the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 7036145
Abstract: An access control system for an electronic entertainment device includes a processor and a memory comprising access control instructions for execution by the processor. The instructions periodically present a set of working queries during execution of an entertainment software application, accept answers to the working queries, and allow access to, or terminate, the entertainment software application based on the answers. Access is allowed for a supervisor configurable time period for each user and each entertainment software title.

  • Patent number: 6065431
Abstract: The present invention provides a portable, low-profile scrubber device which is battery powered and provides enough torque to scrub an animal's paws. The present invention includes a lower housing holding a battery, motor and gear system, with a drive shaft extending from the housing. A second housing is secured to the lower housing and holds water and cleaner. A rotatable brush or brushes are situated in the second housing operably connected to the drive shaft from the first housing. The brush(es) are at least partially submersible in the water of the second housing. The housings are thus operably connected in a liquid-tight fashion and are low profile so that the paws of a dog, cat or other animal can be easily cleaned by the brush(es) in the water of the second housing.

  • Patent number: 6041102
Abstract: An apparatus and process is provided for permanently imprinting historical data onto original dental radiographs by radiographically developing such information onto the film when initially developed. One preferred embodiment utilizes a pliers-like film holder with jaws to secure a radiographic film in place relative to a patient's teeth. The jaws have a slot to receive a removable marker which carries radio-opaque data to be permanently imprinted onto the radiograph. Another device includes a pronged film holder having a slot to receive such a removable marker. Processes for permanently imprinting dental radiographs, including the steps above recited, are also disclosed and claimed.

  • Patent number: 5810754
Abstract: An ankle orthotic of substantially resilient material is provided comprised of a heel portion, an ankle support portion, and a talofibular support portion. The heel portion is substantially rigid and form fitting, preventing excessive inversion forces from being generated at the subtalar joint. The ankle support portion is relatively resilient and extends vertically from the heel portion, with the medial aspect extending higher than the lateral aspect. This form results in creating a three-point pressure system, which resists inversion forces from displacing the ankle mortise. The proximal end of the ankle support portion is enclosed via a fastening strap to customize fit. The talofibular support portion extends laterally and distally from the heel portion and reinforces the relatively vulnerable anterior talofibular ligament, providing stabilization and decreasing injury to the lateral ligamentous complex of the ankle.
