  • Patent number: 5580164
Abstract: A power lens for use in an automated color mixing wash luminaire is formed of a disc of cast transparent material. The disc includes a plurality of lens elements in a honeycomb pattern. Each element has a convex surface. The convex surfaces form an arcuate band extending around a surface of the disc. The convex surfaces have various radii. A plurality of lens elements having the same radius are grouped together in abutting relationship. Six different radii are represented in the lens so that six groups of elements are formed around the band.

  • Patent number: 5515254
Abstract: An automated color mixing wash luminaire includes a movable yoke and a housing movably connected to the yoke. The housing has a first portion including a light source and provides for removing heat generated from the light source. A second portion of the housing includes movable color filters and a power lens. The light source is operable to project a beam of light along a path through the color filters and the lens. Heat removal is provided by cooling fins and at least one heat filter supported in the path of the beam so that a portion of the beam passes through the heat filter and a portion of the beam is reflected from the path toward the cooling fins. The power lens is formed by a disc of cast transparent material including several lens elements in a honeycomb pattern. Each lens element has a convex surface. At least one of the color filters is a gradient density color filter formed of a disc-shaped substrate having a planar surface including a photolithograpically etched film deposited thereon.

  • Patent number: 5492024
Abstract: A servo-wheel for use in a control system for model craft having a servo-motor and movable control members. The servo-wheel is a rigid disc having opposed planar surfaces. A hub is at the geometric center of the disc and includes a bore extending through the disc. A raised portion protrudes from one of the planar surfaces and forms a first part of the hub. The raised portion also defines a first part of the bore having an inner circumferential surface of a first diameter. A keyed receiver is formed in the inner circumferential surface of the raised portion. An insert is mounted in the disc to form a second part of the hub. The insert defines a second portion of the bore and has an inner circumferential surface of a second diameter, less than the first diameter. A keyed driver is received by the keyed receiver. The keyed driver is rotatably connected to the servo-motor at one end and attached to the servo-wheel hub at the other end, so that the servo-wheel is rotated by the servo-motor.

  • Patent number: 5462355
Abstract: A paddle is used for mixing and cutting. A hub is at one end of the paddle for connecting the paddle to a planetary mixing machine. The paddle includes a plurality of interconnected arms in a fan-like array which define a plurality of slots between adjacent arms. The arms include a plurality of apertures formed therethrough. Outermost ones of the arms are positioned at opposite sides of the paddle. A plurality of wire members are secured at their opposite ends to the outermost arms. The wire members extend through the apertures formed in the arms and across the slots defined between the arms. The combination of the arms, the wire members extending through the apertures formed in the arms and across the slots defined between the arms, forms a plurality of multidirectional mixing and cutting components of the paddle. Cutting efficiency of the paddle relates to paddle size, mixing speed, mixture density, wire size, number of wires or distance of the wire members from the rotational axis of the paddle.

  • Patent number: 5455748
Abstract: A lighting control console has a base and a top. The top includes a control panel having control members on one side operably connected to control circuits on an opposite side. The circuits are covered by a removable insulation member. The top is connected to the base and is movable relative to the base between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the top and base are in nested contact. In the open position, the top is raised relative to the base. A storage compartment is provided in the base. The storage compartment and circuits can be accessed when the top is in the open position. When the top is in the closed position, the insulation member insulates the circuits from the storage compartment. A handle is provided on the console and is suitable for hand gripping so that the control console can be carried.

  • Patent number: 5430629
Abstract: A fluid-filled, colored light pattern generator including a pair of transparent plates maintained in spaced relationship by a spacer ring. The ring includes an orifice for admitting fluid into a sealed cavity formed by the plates and the ring. Colored image producing members are suspended for random floatation in the fluid so that when a beam of light is passed through the plates, moving colored images are projected.

  • Patent number: 5402326
Abstract: A gobo holder for a lighting system is provided which includes a housing for removably receiving a gobo therewithin, the housing having first and second ends and being positioned in the beam of light such that light enters the housing through the first end, passes through the gobo and exits the housing through the second end, a support on the housing for supporting the gobo in the housing, the support being positioned such that the beam of light passing through the gobo is unobstructed by the support, and a spring retainer supported by the housing and in contact with and resiliently biasing the gobo into contact with the support, the spring retainer being positioned such that the beam of light passing through the gobo is unobstructed by the spring retainer. The gobo holder is particularly advantageous in that it is capable of securely retaining gobos of various thicknesses in position during use while permitting easy and quick replacement of the gobos during lighting operations.

  • Patent number: 5341936
Abstract: A hydrofoil in close proximity to an outboard surface of a rotatable slurry screen, and a hydrofoil in close proximity to an inboard surface of the screen, cooperate to create high and low slurry pressures at the surfaces which result in causing the slurry to surge through the screen to backwash the latter, thereby dislodging slurry-borne substances which tend to clog apertures in the screen.

  • Patent number: 5281343
Abstract: A method and apparatus for filtering pulp fibers from a pulp slurry, using a combination of vacuum, hydrodynamic and hydrostatic forces in order to achieve a more effective deposition of pulp fibers onto the filter surface and enhanced flow of filtrate through the cylinder. The apparatus is in the form of an improved vacuum filtration system, in which the filtrate outlet tube is disposed along the axis of rotation of the rotary cylinder and the filtrate inlet and outlet ports of each filtrate conduct are radially offset from one another in the direction of intended rotation of the cylinder. During various phases of filter operation, vacuum forces generated by the vacuum source cooperate with either hydrodynamically or hydrostatically generated forces, which together act upon columns of filtrate in the filtrate conduits as the cylinder rotates.
