  • Patent number: 6367632
Abstract: A packaging assembly, and method of packaging a plurality of products, for economically and safely shipping and displaying a plurality of products. The packaging assembly includes a display stand, a plurality of display packs holding the plurality of products. Display stands with display packs can be stacked in layers on a pallet, with the layers seperated by cardboard. The palletized display stands and display packs are then surrounded with cardboard and an appropriate wrapping material. The display stand includes two parallel side panels having a plurality of slots. Each display pack is made of transparent, vacuum-molded plastic, having front and rear portions, flanges, and a product chamber configured to hold the products. The corresponding pairs of slots are configured to receive the display pack flanges to support and display the products in the product chamber.

  • Patent number: 6276510
Abstract: The various embodiments of the spool link include a body of at least one piece, a drive ring functionally engaged to the body, and a cradle. The spool link body comprises at least a pair of engaged, spaced apart, substantially vertical side walls including structure thereon for rotatably engaging the drive ring and for engaging adjacent spool link bodies.

  • Patent number: 6261324
Abstract: An improved foot prosthesis is disclosed which is durable in performance and inexpensive to manufacture, yet effective in accurately duplicating the feel and dynamic performance characteristics of the natural human foot. The prosthesis incorporates a single composite member having a forefoot portion beneath which is molded a unitary elastomeric sole that projects rearwardly from the composite member to define a heel. The elastomeric sole also projects laterally from the composite member so as to provide a degree of lateral stability that matches the inversion/eversion resistance of the normal human foot. In addition, a separate height adjuster and/or stiffness adjuster can be removably attached to the underside of the elastomeric sole, to enable the user to selectively adjust the prosthesis' heel height and/or stiffness.

  • Patent number: 6235055
Abstract: An intraocular lens incorporating a central lens optic and a plurality of haptics, e.g., flexible haptic arms or haptic plates, having anterior and posterior sides that are visually distinguishable from each other. For example, the anterior and posterior sides of the haptics can have contrasting colors or textures. This reduces the possibility that the intraocular lens might mistakenly be implanted in a reversed orientation, with its anterior side facing rearwardly and its posterior side facing forwardly.

  • Patent number: 6231432
Abstract: A floor treatment machine with a torque limiter assembly between a rotating drive linkage and a rotating head for treating a floor surface. The torque limiter assembly includes engaged plates that disengage upon the application of a predetermined torque created when the head slows or stops rotating because of a floor obstruction. Upon the disengagement of the plates, the drive linkage continues to rotate and is less likely to sustain damage from the effect of the floor obstruction on the rotation of the head. The plates may engage each other through a configuration of cooperating teeth and notches. Alternatively, a rotating head can be provided with a built-in torque limiter assembly. This head can be attached to various floor treatment machines. The amount of predetermined torque that causes the plates to disengage may be adjusted as needed for varied floor conditions.

  • Patent number: 6232742
Abstract: Electrical power apparatus is disclosed for selectively powering either a three-phase ac motor or a single-phase ac motor. A dc/ac inverter is configured to provide appropriately phased input signals to the three input terminals of whichever motor is being driven, with no substantial hardware reconfiguration being required. In addition, a special clamp circuit prevents an excessively high voltage from being applied to the inverter by a variable-voltage power source such as a photovoltaic array, whereby the inverter need not be sized to accommodate voltage levels substantially greater than its design voltage.

  • Patent number: 6231992
Abstract: An improved partial reflector is disclosed in which the reflector is configured to provide selected levels of reflectance, transmittance and efficiency that are substantially uniform over the visible wavelength range of 400 to 700 nanometers. This result is achieved using a special three-layer coating that includes a metal layer sandwiched between two metal oxide dielectric layers having relatively high refractive indices >2.0. Advantageously, the three layers all incorporate the same metal, preferably niobium.
