  • Patent number: 5284363
Abstract: A multi-layer label for displaying information is disclosed which includes at least two layers which may be repeatedly partially separated and re-adhered to one another, such that a portion of the outer surface of a lower layer is exposed upon separation of a portion of an upper layer from it. The inner surface of the upper layer of the label is coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive. To form a lift tab for the upper layer at least one corner of the inner surface is either coated with varnish to deaden the adhesive, or alternatively, a corner is not coated with adhesive. The outer surface of the lower layer is selectively coated with an adhesive release material such that the coated portion releasably bonds to the inner surface of the upper layer, and, the portion of the outer surface of the lower layer not coated with the adhesive release layer permanently bonds to the upper layer thus forming a hinge between the two layers. A method and apparatus for manufacturing a multi-layer label is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4255407
Abstract: A method for the regeneration of spent pickling acids. Said acid is mixed with such a minor quantity of a stronger acid that the losses of said stronger acid are compensated. The mixture obtained is stripped, whereby the weaker acids are vaporized. The vapor phase containing the weaker acids is passed to a condenser. The condensate obtained forms the regenerated pickling acid. The spent pickling acid can also be passed directly to an evaporator in which a solution containing a stronger acid is circulated. The vapor from the evaporator is passed to an absorption column and thereafter to a condenser, the regenerated acid being formed of the condensate from said condenser.

  • Patent number: 4253877
Abstract: A process for microencapsulating water-immiscible chemicals is disclosed which comprises mixing a colloidal solution of gelatin Type A and gum acacia with an emulsion or slurry of the water-immiscible chemical, both of which are prepared and mixed at a temperature above about 50.degree. C., and allowing the mixture to cool so that the droplets or particles of water-immiscible chemical are encapsulated with a macromolecular membrane of a complex coacervate of gelatin and gum acacia. Anti-fouling marine paints capable of sustained release of anti-fouling agent are prepared by adding microcapsules of anti-fouling agents to a marine paint vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4228913
Abstract: The invention relates to a tab top can having a self contained drinking straw. The straw includes a resilient bellows structure on its bottom which serves to bias the top end of the straw against the underside of the tab top. A straw guide secured on the interior of the can aligns the top end of the straw with the underside of the tab top. The bellows structure forces the top end of the straw through the drinking slot formed when the tab top is removed from the can.
