  • Patent number: 7349904
Abstract: A method, apparatus and program-product are provided for managing user access to a converged set of entitlement resources residing within an entitlement resource repository. Each of the entitlement resources is marked with an entitlement identifier. When a requester attempts to access an entitlement resource, an authentication token corresponding to the requester is sent to one or more entitlement authorities associated with the entitlement resource. The entitlement authority creates a set of entitlement identifiers associated with the requestor. This set of entitlement identifiers associated with the requestor is then compared with the entitlement identifiers associated with the entitlement resource to determine if the requestor has authority to access the entitlement resource.

  • Patent number: 7337103
Abstract: The present invention provides a method, apparatus and program-product for a self-healing, reconfigurable logic emulation system, wherein if a signal wire becomes faulty in an emulation cable during an emulation run, the runtime software can automatically reconfigure the emulator to reroute the data destined for the faulty signal wire across a spare wire. Such a feature enables a user to restart the emulation run without having to recompile the simulation model to account for the hardware fault.

  • Patent number: 7301767
Abstract: An electronic equipment of the present invention includes housings and, a substrate, electronic components mounted on the substrate, a heatsink which is connected to the electronic component, connection means and for connecting the heatsink to the housing depending on a temperature in the housing and for forming a heat conduction path from the electronic component to the housing, and a fan for flowing cooling air into the housing. The substrate, the electronic component, the heatsink, the connection means, and the fan are arranged in the housing. Depending on the temperature, the connection means promotes heat transfer from the heatsink to the housing, which has a large radiation area, in addition to a cooling (radiation) operation using the fan. As a result, the cooling of the electronic component inside the housing is promoted during operation.

  • Patent number: 7290136
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and program product for tiered, multi-state intelligent detection and enforcement of security on a pervasive device is provided. The method/apparatus first monitors the pervasive device for the presence of a security identifier, then establishes a current security level chosen from a plurality of security levels for the pervasive device based on the presence of the security identifier.

  • Patent number: 7290260
Abstract: A method, apparatus and program product for the dynamic reallocation of shared processing resources in a computing system is provided. The method/apparatus/program product attempts to allocate the shared processing resource among the two or more logical partitions in the computing system based on a current utilization of the shared processing resource among each of the two or more logical partitions and a current utilization of shared processing resource for the computing system as a whole. More specifically, the shared processing resource is reallocated from logical partitions having a relatively lower current utilization of their owned portion of the shared processing resource to logical partitions having a relatively high current utilization of their owned portion of the shared processing resource.

  • Patent number: 7254652
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and computer program product for reading an encoded cable speed/length value contained within an interconnection cable to set the interconnection speed of two or more components connected by the interconnection cable within a computing environment. This method detects changes to the cable connections within the I/O fabric of the computing environment, and autonomically reconfigures the connected components to enable the interconnected devices to communicate at the maximum effective bandwidth, based on the length of the interconnection cables utilized.
