Abstract: Aqueous boron-containing compositions containing about 40 to 85% of the reaction product of boric acid and alkylamine in a mole ratio of from 1.5:1 to 3:1, about 2 to 15% of an alkanol or alkylene glycol and the balance water. The compositions are especially useful as liquid fertilizer compositions.

Abstract: Long chain alkyl amines are useful as anti-hyperlipidemic agents for lowering serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels in mammals. Such amines include compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 is alkyl of 8 to 20 carbon atoms and each R.sub.2 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a dispenser for dispensing viscous liquids, such as liquid soap, disinfectants and similar products, comprising a reservoir forming a reservoir for the liquid having an obliquely extending outlet which is provided with a self closing venting valve. A wall mounting assembly in which the dispenser is mounted, is provided with a protruding member, against which the reservoir is compressed to dispense liquid contained in the reservoir. The reservoir can be arranged in two different configurations, so that the dispenser can be mounted to both vertical and horizontal walls and the outlet assembly extends vertically downward.

Abstract: A promoter for improving the adhesion of rubber to metals is obtained by reacting an alkaline earth borate such as calcium borate with a cobalt or nickel carboxylate. Preferred carboxylates contain 3-24 carbon atoms.
Abstract: Ammonium salts of polyboranes are useful as antihyperlipidemic agents for lowering serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels in mammals. Such polyborane ions include the B.sub.3 H.sub.8.sup.- and B.sub.n H.sub.n.sup.= groups in which n is 6 to 12.

Abstract: A wall mounted soap dispenser made of plastic is described. The dispenser includes a hand-operated pump which dispenses liquid soap under pressure and which can be manufactured inexpensively. A disposable container of liquid soap is inserted in the dispenser to refill the dispenser. The pump has on its top a pan to collect liquid spilled as the disposable container is inserted. The pump and container are enclosed in a plastic housing which hinges from a plastic wall plate. A plastic latch with plastic key is used to lock the housing to the wall mounting plate. The pump mechanism uses a piston of two sections of different diameter and corresponding piston chamber of two sections of different diameter. There is an adjustable piston stroke length limiting mechanism. The piston is attached to the lever which moves the piston by means of a crossbar on the end of the piston rod. The crossbar is inserted in a slot in the lever and then turned to cross the slot.

Abstract: Oxo-aluminum complexes prepared by reacting a substituted aluminum alkoxide with a molar deficiency of water or carboxylic acid. The complexes are useful in surface coating compositions based on synthetic resins such as alkyd resins.

Abstract: Solid, crystalline glass ceramic compositions which are useful as ionic conductor materials, especially for use as solid electrolytes in high temperature, high energy density storage batteries. The glass ceramics are derived from sodium or calcium borates containing one or more metal halide, preferably the chlorides and bromides of the metals from Group 2 to 8 of the Periodic Table of the Elements.

Abstract: Compositions for preventing or inhibiting the infection of wood raw materials by fungi causing sapstain, superficial mold and decay comprising a mixture of a dithiocarbamate, an alkali metal borate, and a selected antioxidant stabilizing agent. The mixtures exhibit a synergistic fungicidal activity and have the advantage over known anti-stain wood-preservative compounds that they are stable, relatively non-toxic and water-soluble. The compositions may be formulated as a dry formulation, as a solution or as a gel and may also include an alkaline salt or a gelling agent.
