Abstract: The instant invention discloses the unexpected result that mutant signal sequences with reduced translational strength provided essentially complete processing and high levels of expression of a polypeptide of interest as compared to wild type signal sequences, and that many mammalian polypeptides require a narrow range of translation levels to achieve maximum secretion. A set of signal sequence vectors provides a range of translational strengths for optimizing expression of a polypeptide of interest.
Abstract: A zeolite of the L type is prepared by an approximately stoichiometric process wherein the zeolite is crystallized from a reaction mixture aged at from 80.degree. to 260.degree. C. containing specified ranges of molar ratios of KOH (and optionally a minor amount of NaOH), water, potassium silicate, and a source of alumina preferably derived from kaolin or halloysite. Most preferably, the source of alumina is metakaolin.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an alkaline salt promoter system which includes an N-aminoalkyl alkylpiperazine, preferably the compound 1-(3-aminopropyl)-2,5-dimethylpiperazine (APDP), an alkali metal salt or hydroxide (e.g., K.sub.2 CO.sub.3) and water. These scrubbing compositions may be used for removing CO.sub.2 from gaseous streams containing CO.sub.2.

Abstract: A zeolite of the L type is prepared by crystallization from a reaction mixture aged at 70.degree. to 260.degree. C. containing water, a source of silica or germania, a source of alumina or gallia, a source of potassium (and optionally up to 40 mole percent of a source of sodium, based on total mole percent of potassium and sodium), and a salt of a tetraalkylammonium cation wherein at least two alkyl groups have more than one carbon atom. Most preferably the cation is tetraethylammonium cation.
Abstract: A novel class of severely sterically hindered tertiary amino compounds having a pK.sub.a value at 20.degree. C. greater than 8.6, preferably ranging from 9.3 to about 10.6, and a cumulative -E.sub.s value of at least 1.9 are found to be useful in selective removal of H.sub.2 S from a normally gaseous mixture containing H.sub.2 S and CO.sub.2.
Abstract: The selective removal of H.sub.2 S gas from a normally gaseous mixture containing H.sub.2 S and CO.sub.2 is accomplished by contacting the gaseous mixture with an absorbent solution comprising a tertiary amino azabicyclic alcohol whereby H.sub.2 S is selectively absorbed from the mixture.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an alkaline salt promoter system comprising specific mixtures of lower aliphatic mono-substituted alpha amino acids and sterically hindered diamino or triamino compounds and their use in acid gas scrubbing processes. The preferred promoter system comprises a mixture of N-secondary butyl glycine and N-cyclohexyl-1,3-propanediamine or N-cyclohexyl-1, 4-butanediamine.
Abstract: The selective removal of H.sub.2 S gas from a normally gaseous mixture containing H.sub.2 S and CO.sub.2 is accomplished by contacting the gaseous mixture with an absorbent solution comprising a severely sterically hindered secondary amino compound having a cumulative .sup.- E.sub.s value (Taft's steric hindrance constant) greater than about 1.75 whereby H.sub.2 S is selectively absorbed from the mixture.
