Abstract: A lifting device for a patient support apparatus is provided. The patient support apparatus includes a frame and a lifting device coupled to the frame. The lifting device is configured to move the frame between a raised position and a lowered position. The lifting device includes a motor and at least two canisters. The motor is operably coupled to at least one of the canisters to rotate the canister.
Abstract: An apparatus comprises an architectural system and a patient adjustment device. The patient adjustment device is coupled to the architectural system and adapted to pull on a patient receiver to move a patient received by the patient receiver and located on a bed relative to the bed to adjust the position of the patient.

Abstract: A patient support apparatus comprises a lower frame, a lift mechanism, a drive mechanism, and an upper frame. The lower frame includes a lift drive configured to at least one of expand and contract the lift mechanism. The lift mechanism is pivotably coupled with the lower frame to rotate about a rotational axis. A drive mechanism is coupled between the lift mechanism and the lower frame. The drive mechanism is configured to rotate the lift mechanism about the rotational axis. The upper frame is supported on the lift mechanism and responsive to the rotation of the lift mechanism to rotate a patient about the rotational axis.

Abstract: A person-support apparatus comprises a frame, a container, a gas permeable cover, a rigid diffuser, a fluidizable medium, and a cushion. The container is supported on a frame and includes a base and a plurality of sides coupled to the base. The base cooperates with the sides to define an opening opposite the base. The gas permeable cover is removably coupled to the container and covers the opening to define a chamber. The rigid diffuser is positioned within the chamber proximate the base. The fluidizable medium is positioned between the rigid diffuser and the gas permeable cover. The cushion is coupled to the diffuser and positioned between the gas permeable cover and the rigid diffuser. The cushion is configured to provide cushioning support between a person supported on the gas permeable cover and the rigid diffuser.
Abstract: A patient support comprises a frame, a siderail, a linkage coupled to the siderail and coupled to the frame to guide movement of the siderail relative to the frame between a raised position and a lowered position, and a dampener. The dampener includes a coil spring, a first link coupled to the linkage and having a free end received inside the coil spring, and a second link coupled to the frame and having a free end received inside the coil spring.
