    Abstract: The present application relates to a group of novel substituted pentose and hexose monosaccharide derivatives, not previously disclosed, which exhibit potent anti-cell adhesion and anti-inflammatory activities. Methods of preparation, pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds and methods of treatment, suppression and prevention of cell adhesion mediated chronic inflammatory disorders are also described.
