  • Patent number: 8230600
Abstract: A safety razor has a handle and a cartridge selectively detachable from the handle. The cartridge has at least one blade with a sharp cutting edge and an expected shaving utility. A connecting structure is coupled to the handle and attaches or detaches the cartridge from the handle in response to a detachment action performed by a user. A detector within the handle has an actuator coupled to the connecting structure and a sensor for generating a signal, wherein the actuator applies an action on the sensor during the action and the sensor generates the signal in response to the action.

  • Patent number: 8221734
Abstract: Non-pressurized shaving compositions are described that provide a warm/hot sensation during use as the result of an exothermic redox reaction. The compositions are post-foaming via nascent gas release in situ due to the generation of carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide induced foam is maintained for several minutes after the compositions are dispensed, whereby the compositions are capable of providing both a warm sensation and sustained lather, a balance which heretofore has been a significant challenge.

  • Patent number: 8158043
Abstract: A method for making apertures in a precursor web using a forming apparatus is provided where the web comprises a film having molecular orientation and the forming apparatus comprises an arrangement of teeth. The orientation of the arrangement of teeth and the molecular orientation of the film are predetermined and modified to provide a relative angle between the orientation of the teeth and the molecular orientation of the film. Apertures formed in the precursor web material have a length and width exhibiting a minimal aspect ratio.

  • Patent number: 8117725
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a plurality of molded components including (a) providing a carrier to a manufacturing assembly; (b) forming the molded components on the carrier, the molded components having a sacrificial portion secured to the carrier and being movable along the carrier, and a functional portion extending from the sacrificial portion, adjacent sacrificial portions are spaced from one another by a first distance; (c) winding the carrier in a forward direction onto the uptake device; and (d) unwinding the uptake device in a reverse direction such that the carrier and molded components move toward the source device, one of the molded components contacts the latch preventing the molded components from moving in the reverse direction such that adjacent sacrificial portions are moved closer together to a second distance that is less than the first distance.

  • Patent number: 8109001
Abstract: Shaving apparatus including a drivable shaving unit for performing a first shaving action on a user's skin; a motor adapted to drive the shaving unit to perform the first shaving action; a blade having a razor-sharp cutting edge positioned for shaving engagement with the user's skin; and a guard surface provided in front of the razor-sharp blade. During use, the blade performs a second shaving action to cut hair while the drivable shaving unit performs the first shaving action. The first shaving unit may be rotary or linear and may have a static or moving skin-engaging cutter. Two razor-sharp blades may be provided, facing in opposite directions.
