Abstract: Self relieving seals of this invention comprise an elastomeric seal body having a first sealing surface and a second sealing surface for contact with respective drill bit sealing surfaces. The seal includes a pair of external surfaces that each extend along the seal body between the first and second sealing surfaces. The seal includes one or more relief ports that are disposed through the seal body and that have openings through each of the seal body external surfaces. The relief port can be specially configured, e.g., have different diameter sections of constant or variable dimensions, to provide a degree of control over pressure equalization through the seal body when the seal is loaded within the drill bit. The seal may include an element, e.g., solid, tubular, or porous, disposed within the relief port to provide a further desired degree of control over pressure equalization through the seal when the seal is loaded within the drill bit.

Abstract: Truss assemblies of this invention comprise elongate chord elements having opposed first and second axial ends. Brace elements are used to orient and connect together the chord elements in a desired spatial orientation and have a plate structure. The brace elements comprise chord receiving openings disposed therethrough that are sized to accommodate placement of a respective chord element therein, and that are positioned to provide the desired spatial orientation between the chord elements. The chord element receiving openings and define a portion of the brace element that surrounds the chord element disposed within the opening. A connector is rotatably attached to an end of the chord elements to facilitate attaching the truss assemblies together for the purpose of forming a desired truss system.
Abstract: A heart rate monitoring unit including a heart rate monitor and a belt. The heart rate monitor includes a base having a length defining a longitudinal axis, an electronics unit portion, a first electrode portion, and a first belt connection portion. The electronics unit portion has a first end proximate the first electrode portion and a second end distal from the first electrode portion. The first electrode portion has a first end proximate the electronics unit portion and a second end distal from the electronics unit portion. The first belt connection portion is disposed between the second end of the electronics unit portion and the second end of first electrode portion. The base includes a first electrode secured to the first electrode portion, and an electronics unit secured to the electronics unit portion.
Abstract: A pressure capsule embedded in a pacemaker lead to monitor intracardiac chamber pressure is described. This pressure monitor capsule provides highly accurate pressure readings while insuring a high integrity seal against bodily fluids and tissue growth. The capsule is intended to be embedded into a pacemaker cardiac lead or a catheter with the distal (Tip) isolation diaphragm sensing pressure, coupling the pressure through an air column to a protected sensing MEMS device and providing a secure fluid seal to the lead walls. The proximal (Back) end of the capsule provides the electrical interface through the lead to the pacemaker pulse generator.
Abstract: Elastomer-modified Epoxy-polysiloxane compositions of this invention are prepared by combining a silicone intermediate, with an epoxy resin, an elastomeric resinous intermediate, a polyfunctional amine, an optional organometallic catalyst, and optional fillers, pigments, and processing agents. The composition is prepared using a sufficient amount of water to promote hydrolysis of the polysiloxane and the polycondensation of the silanols produced by such hydrolysis. In its cured form, the epoxy-polysiloxane composition exists as a uniformly dispersed arrangement of linear epoxy chain fragments that are cross-linked with a continuous polysiloxane polymer chain, wherein either or both of the epoxy and/or polysiloxane polymers are elastomer modified to provide coatings and floorings having significantly improved properties of impact resistance, flexibility, crack resistance, and abrasion resistance with compared to conventional epoxy systems.
Abstract: A window assembly for a public transportation vehicle that permits rapid removal and replacement is disclosed. The vehicle has a sidewall with a window opening. One or more frame members are attached within the window opening. The frame members are adapted to comprise one or more apertures. One or more retainers are adhesively attached to the inner surface and towards the outer periphery of a piece of glazing. The retainers have protrusions that can extend through the apertures in the frame members and engage therewith when the piece of glazing is positioned adjacent to the window opening. Removable fasteners can be attached to the protrusions so as to detachably secure the piece of glazing and the retainers to the frame members. This allows easy removal and replacement of the piece of glazing from the window opening of the sidewall of the vehicle.
Abstract: A device to mix and extrude various ingredients including pastas, pastries, baked goods, hors d'oeuvres, and cookies. The device includes novel measuring, mixing and extrusion arrangements including: an automatic measuring cup; a way to continuously mix and extrude ingredients without intervening cleanings; a mixing and extrusion feed for handling different consistencies of ingredients; an integrated automatic cutter; motor cooling and extruded ingredient drying; as well as various safety devices.
Abstract: An electrophoresis apparatus is generally disclosed for sequentially analyzing a single sample or multiple samples having one or more analytes in high or low concentrations. The apparatus comprises a relatively large-bore transport capillary which intersects with a plurality of small-bore separation capillaries. Analyte concentrators, having antibody-specific (or related affinity) chemistries, are stationed at the respective intersections of the transport capillary and separation capillaries to bind one or more analytes of interest. The apparatus allows the performance of two or more dimensions for the optimal separation of analytes.
Abstract: A method of forming a printable media sheet construction, including: (a) cutting cross-direction lines through a cardstock web; (b) after step (a), laminating a plurality of strips to the web; and (c) after step (b), cutting machine-direction lines through the web and to the strips on the opposite side of the web.

Abstract: A rotating light fixture and method of creating the same is provided. A plurality of members, such as strings and rods, are attached to a rotational device. Each member has a plurality of light sources connected to it. The plurality of members can expand upon rotation to form a canopy shape, or the plurality of members can itself define a canopy shape. Upon rotation, the light fixture has the appearance of a translucent solid shape.
Abstract: A headset cable retraction system and device is described, the system including a housing, the housing having a cavity. In addition, the system includes a cord capable of transmitting an electrical signal, wherein a portion of the cord is contained in the cavity. The system further includes an earpiece attached to the cord; and, a retracting mechanism in the housing, the retracting mechanism including a drive wheel, a spring coupled to the drive wheel and a idler wheel, the cord being pressed between the drive wheel and the idler wheel; wherein when the cord is extracted from the cavity, the spring becomes tensioned. A method for using the system and device is also described.

Abstract: An improved method for cleaning and sterilizing medical and dental instruments (16) employs the use of a banding device (10) to segregate and hold together medical or dental instruments (16) after use in a particular procedure. The banded instruments (16) are then cleaned and sterilized. This method essentially eliminates the time and effort formerly required when unsegregated instruments were mixed with other instruments for cleaning and sterilization and then stored according to the particular procedure for which they are intended and/or according to the intended particular user thereof.
Abstract: Double hooked device with the hooks being transversely positioned on the end of a shaft having a handle at its opposite end. The hooks may snag, lift, move and/or flip food or other articles by the hooks being rotated generally about the shaft's axis until one of the double hooks penetrates into the article to be lifted. A shield at the base of the handle is a guard to cover the tips of the hooks.
