  • Patent number: 4454999
Abstract: The cable dispensing device of the present invention has one or more reels with cable wound thereabout rotatably supported upon a mandrel. Drive means are provided for each reel supported on the device. Accordingly to the method of the invention, control means are operative independently to control the torque applied to each of the reels by the drive means to assist in the rotation of the reels and dispensing of cable wound thereabout. Application of a torque to the reels reduces the tension on the cables when pulling the cables through a duct system adapted to house the cables.

  • Patent number: 4448301
Abstract: A conveyor system comprises an endless belt and means for carrying and driving the belt along a path comprising a plurality of vertically spaced apart loops by frictionally engaging the underside of the belt at the curved portions of the loops. The belt is supported at the straight portions of the loop. The belt is driven by friction between the carrying means and the underside of the belt.

  • Patent number: 4447012
Abstract: A portable reel jack stand has dual reel support units which are oppositely positioned and adapted to lift and support a reel rotatably therebetween. Each support unit has retractible rollers operative to permit movement of the reel support units when the reel is not being supported thereby. A reel engaging unit carried upon telescopic members slidably engaged with each of the reel support units is adapted to facilitate rotation of the reel. At least one of the reel engaging units has a braking assembly operative to control reel rotation. A hydraulic jack is operative to cause upward movement of the telescopic members thereby occasioning lifting of the reel.

  • Patent number: 4443385
Abstract: To provide fuel for a vehicle, a product of fermentation such as a water/ethanol mixture is circulated in the cooling circuit of the engine of the vehicle. The fuel is distilled from the cooling circuit and at least a portion of the distilled fuel is burned in the engine, either as a vapor or as a condensate. Also disclosed are a sensor for determining when the fuel content of the distillate is sufficiently high for combustion and a carburetor for the distilled fuel, which is of varying alcohol content.

  • Patent number: 4277448
Abstract: Phosphoric acid is prepared from phosphate rock and sulfuric acid by using a reaction train comprising a dissolving slurry and a crystallization slurry maintained at different sulfate levels. Both inter and intra vessel circulation are used at high rates to minimize reagent concentration gradients and temperature gradients and provide a suitable crystallization environment. Preferably, the intra vessel circulation is substantially in plug flow, as through a draft tube.
