    Abstract: A disturbance responsive magnetic latch comprises a latch arm having spring legs and mounted onto a first substantially planer mounting surface for engaging a door or door frame member. A screw or other fastening mechanism may be used to attach said first mounting surface and latch arm to the door. A second mounting surface is provided having a magnet coupled thereto and having a retainer for retaining and securing the latch arm thereto. The magnet is preferably of a substantially flat and elongated construction. The second mounting surface is secured to a predetermined area distant from the first base plate preferably by a screw or other mechanical fastening mechanism.
