  • Patent number: 5407292
Abstract: A connector assembly for connecting two cylindrical members in which two connector members are respectively connected to the cylindrical members. The respective end portions of the connector members are adapted to interlock to prevent relative movement of the connector members, and therefore the cylindrical members, in a first plane. A sleeve extends over at least a portion of the connector members to prevent relative movement of the latter members, as well as the cylindrical members, in a second plane perpendicular to the first plane. The sleeve is lockable in its preventing position and can be easily released by a simple rotation of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5345370
Abstract: A lamp or flashlight having a multi-feature switching assembly is disclosed. The flashlight comprises a barrel, a head assembly, and a rotating switching assembly. The head assembly and switching assembly are rotated relative to the barrel and a tongue extending from the barrel to bring a conductor of the switching assembly into contact with, or remove the conductor from contact with, the tongue to close or open an electrical circuit for turning the light bulb on or off, respectively. The conductor may be adapted to nestingly engage the tongue in a locked on position, and a resilient member may be added to nestingly engage the tongue in a locked off position. Unlocked on and off positions of the switching assembly permit the light to be quickly flashed on and off. The head assembly includes a head and a head portion, and the head portion may be rotated relative to the head to adjust the focus of the light independently of the on/off function.

  • Patent number: 5205816
Abstract: A laparoscopic medical instrument for performing blunt dissection, as well as irrigation and aspiration of the operative field. The instrument comprises an elongated suction tube having proximal and distal ends, with the proximal end connected to a source of irrigation fluid and to vacuum suction equipment. A cannulated mandrel is partly inserted into the distal end leaving a portion of the mandrel extending outwardly from the elongated tube. A strip of cloth having a textured surface is wound around the outwardly extending portion of the mandrel for performing blunt dissection. An inner tube extends within the mandrel such that the bore of the inner tube is in registry with the bore of the elongated tube to provide a continuous internal bore extending through the entire instrument for supplying irrigation fluid and for removing the fluid and debris during aspiration. An X-ray opaque strip is wound within the cloth strip.
