Abstract: Aluminium hydroxide of high whiteness is produced by (i) heating aluminium hydroxide obtained from the Bayer process to a temperature of 300 to 700° C. (ii) dissolving the soluble fraction of the thus obtained activated product at 85 to 275° C. in aqueous sodium hydroxide to form a sodium aluminate liquor containing an undissolved residue of very fine boehmite, (iii) filtering said sodium aluminate liquor to obtain a clear solution of sodium aluminate supersaturated with respect to dissolved alumina, (iv) cooling said clear solution to 50 to 80° C. and seeding with crystallized aluminium hydroxide to induce further crystallization, and (v) separating, washing and drying the produced aluminium hydroxide crystals.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing surface-modified fillers by spray-drying an aqueous suspension of a filler that consists of fine particles, whereby 0.1 to 50 wt. % (calculated as dry substance), preferably 0.3 up to less than 1 wt %, of an aqueous dispersion of a thermoplastic polymer or copolymer or a caoutchouc are added. Said fillers have improved bulk material stability and improved pourability. The inventive fillers are particularly suitable as flame-retardant fillers for synthetic materials or rubber, in a cable insulation for instance.
Abstract: Arrangement for understoichiometric gasification of spent liquor from chemical pulp production, comprising an upper reactor part (2), which upper reactor part is provided with a burner (5) for the spent liquor and with an internally clad reactor jacket (4), and a lower separating part (8), comprising at least one wall (18), for separating a phase of solid and/or molten material, formed on gasification, from a phase of combustible gaseous material, which separating part (8) is arranged to essentially convey the said phase of solid and/or molten material to a product liquid bath (11). According to the invention, the said separating part (8) also comprises means for creating a cooling and protecting liquid film along at least one side of the said wall (18), the said means comprising a supply line (19) for coolant liquid, which supply line, at its inlet end, is connected to a coolant liquid bath (10) which is separate from the said product liquid bath (11).
Abstract: Device for the understoichiometric gasification of spent liquor from chemical pulp production under centrifugal influence, which device comprises an upper reactor part (1), which upper reactor part is provided with an inlet (31) having a nozzle (8) for combusting the spent liquor, a separating a part (3), which is integrated with the reactor, for separating a phase, which is formed in the gasification, consisting of solid and/or molten material from a phase consisting of combustible gaseous material, and also a product liquid space (4).
Abstract: The invention relates to particulate active ingredient vehicles which are in the solid aggregate state at room temperature (20° C.) and consist of a pure lipid-drug conjugate (LDC) or a mixture of several LDCs as particle matrix, the bond in the LDC being effected by covalent bonding, electrostatic interactions, dipole moments, dispersion forces, ion interactions, hydrogen bridges and/or hydrophobic interactions.
Abstract: Provided is a device for removing coating on an optical fiber. The device has a cutting depth limiting surface disposed on a receiver body and a cutting blade attached between a pusher body and a fixing block. The cutting blade is made from plastics and has a specified bending elasticity. An optical fiber is inserted between the cutting blade and the limiting surface. During operation, the cutting blade cuts into a covering on the optical fiber. A high precision in arranging the cutting blade is not required.
Abstract: An improved process of curing resin-bonded refractory brick lining of a ladle within a housing by heating the brick in air at an effective temperature to produce resin vapors and transferring the vapors from the ladle comprising transferring the vapors at a temperature above the condensation temperature of the transferred vapors to an auxiliary burner to effect combustion of the transferred vapors to produce non-toxic gases. The process provides an efficacious and environmentally sound treatment of resin-bonded refractory bricks.
Abstract: A description is given of a method as well as a plant for manufacturing cement clinker by which method cement raw meal is preheated in a preheater (1), calcined in a calciner (3) comprising an upper end (3a) and a lower end (3b), burned into clinker in a kiln (5) and cooled in a subsequent clinker cooler (7).
