Abstract: The present invention is a receiver that includes electronics for converting an input audio signal to an output acoustic signal. The receiver has a housing for containing at least a portion of the electronics. The housing includes a port for broadcasting the output acoustic signal. A suspension system is coupled to the housing for dampening vibrations of the housing. In one preferred embodiment, the suspension system includes three resilient contact structures for contacting a surrounding structure in which the receiver is placed. The contact structures are positioned at specific locations to provide variable dampening levels. In another embodiment, the dampening is provided by a low-viscosity, gel-like material positioned between the housing and the surrounding structure.

Abstract: A sheathing adapted to be fastened to at least one wall supporting structure comprises at least two layers. The first layer comprises a polymeric foam layer. The second layer comprises a polymeric scrim and is located adjacent to the first layer. The second layer reinforces its periphery so as to inhibit the failure of the scrim. The reinforced periphery may include a selvage tuck or a folded-edge.

Abstract: A non-aqueous suspension including boron-containing particulates, a low molecular weight polyalkylene glycol and a suspension stabilizer is provided. Methods of crosslinking water soluble polymers and of fracturing a subterranean formation are also provided.

Abstract: A semiconductor package includes a package body containing an integrated-circuit chip having an optical sensor. The package can be fitted into an object having two parts suitable for being coupled. A board in the object is provided with electrical connection tracks. The package is placed in a position such that the optical sensor is located facing an opening in the object. The package body carries, on the one hand, resilient rear electrical connection leads that project from a rear face and are electrically connected to the said chip and has, on the other hand, a front bearing surface, such that, when the package body is fitted into the object adjacent the board and when the parts of the object are coupled, the front bearing surface of the body bears on an inner surface of a part of the object and the resilient rear leads bear resiliently on the respective electrical connection tracks of the board.

Abstract: A plurality of non volatile memory cells, for example of the flash type, with low circuit area occupation, are organized in cell matrices with corresponding circuits responsible for addressing, decoding, reading, writing and erasing the memory cell content. Each of the cells has a gate terminal biased in the programming phase with a predetermined voltage value through operation of charge pump voltage regulators. A first and a second regulation stage, which are structurally independent, are responsible for the programming and soft programming phase respectively. The first stage generates a supply voltage for the second stage.

Abstract: A container for distribution and display of goods is convertible from a first configuration for distribution into a second configuration for display. The conversion is accomplished by removing a front cover panel. The front cover panel may be attached to the container using a variety of methods, including a perforated score line, a tear-away strip, adhesives, tapes, or a combination of these methods. When the front cover panel is removed for retail display, an access opening is uncovered, allowing users to easily view and access the contents of the container. The front cover panel may further cover graphics and text provided along the front of the container so that the graphics and text are not marred or otherwise damaged during distribution. In addition, the front cover panel may be provided with distribution information thereon, which is unimportant to an end user such as a retail customer and is easily removed for display of the container.

Abstract: A document processing system comprises an input receptacle for receiving documents. A transport mechanism receives the documents from the input receptacle and transports the documents past a full image scanner and a discrimination unit. An output receptacle receives the documents from the transport mechanism after being transported past the full image scanner and the discrimination unit. The full image scanner includes means for obtaining a full video image of said documents, means for obtaining a image of a selected area of said documents, and means for obtaining information contained in said selected area of said document. The discrimination unit includes means for determining the authenticity of said document. A system controller directs the flows of documents over the transport mechanism.

Abstract: A cutting board for chopping food articles and household items includes a baseboard having a cutting surface for cutting articles thereon. The cutting board further includes a smooth curved sloping surface region at one edge. A surface of the smooth curved sloping surface region has a texture which is different from a texture of the cutting surface. The smooth curved sloping surface region enhances the transfer of chopped articles from the cutting surface to another location.

Abstract: A semiconductor package includes a body having a cavity closed by a lid. In the cavity, an integrated-circuit chip is placed. Electrical connection leads are carried by the body. These leads have resilient inner terminal parts which lie in the cavity and are suitable for being in contact with electrical connection pads on the said chip. The lid acts so as to keep the said inner terminal parts of the leads in resilient contact on the electrical connection pads on the chip.

Abstract: A method of conducting a wagering game on a gaming machine is disclosed. The wagering game may, for example, be a video reel slot game that includes a plurality of symbols displayed in an array. The plurality of symbols are evaluated to determine a change to one of the symbols that will yield one of a plurality of predefined winning combinations of symbols. The one of the symbols is changed to another of the symbols to form the winning combination, and an award is awarded for the winning combination.
