  • Patent number: 7523386
Abstract: A user at a receiving Web station is provided with several alternate Web page display interface formats, from which the user may select the appropriate format for each Web document that he bookmarks. Thus, each time that a bookmarked Web document will be displayed subsequently, it will have this optimum presentation interface format. The implementation comprises bookmarking a received Web document, predetermining at least one display interface format alternate to said standard display interface format for bookmarked Web documents, providing a document folder associated with each alternate display interface format, enabling a user to put a bookmarked Web document into a document folder associated with an alternate display interface format and displaying bookmarked documents in said document folder in said alternate display interface format.

  • Patent number: 7349988
Abstract: Enabling the user to link a selected sequence of hypertext World Wide Web (Web) documents into a string and to store the string at his receiving Web display station so that these documents will be available for his use. An implementation at a receiving display station is provided for designating a received Web document as a starter document and for selecting a subsequently received Web document as a first next document. An implementation is provided for creating a hyperlink in the starter document to the first next document, together with means for storing said starter and next documents at said receiving display station. The invention further provides for an extension of the selected documents into a string through selecting one or more subsequently received Web documents as a subsequent next document and creating a hyperlink in the first next document to the subsequent next document.

  • Patent number: 6961901
Abstract: A process in a computer managed communication network such as the World Wide Web with user access via a plurality of data processor controlled interactive display stations and with a system for displaying documents, e.g. Web pages, transmitted to said display stations from locations remote from said stations which provides the user with a system for the prioritizing of documents presented on constrained receiving stations to users of the Internet in an order personalized to each user's needs and interests which have been heuristically determined based upon the user's past access to such documents through standard desktop interfaces.

  • Patent number: 6948125
Abstract: The implementation of the invention involves a conventional display window and a system for displaying a portion of said hierarchical tree within the borders of the window in combination with an implementation enabling a user to expand each nested displayed category into a displayed list of items in said category, and to collapse said displayed list back to each displayed category. There are means for scrolling said displayed hierarchy through said window. This invention provides for a set of displayed indicators, each representing a hidden expanded category in the hierarchical chain of a list of items displayed within said window. There is a further implementation associated with each displayed indicator enabling a user to select the indicator to collapse the hidden category represented by said indicator and thereby enable the display of the collapsed category within said window.

  • Patent number: 6819313
Abstract: A visual indication on a cursor control device is triggered when the cursor is within a designated region on said display screen. Usually the user activated cursor control device is a computer control mouse, but the invention may operate effectively with joy sticks and trackballs. An effective implementation provides a light on the control mouse and the target region on the display screen for the cursor is an icon. The light on the mouse may be a variable light. It may be varied dependent upon the type of region on the screen which is the target region, e.g. one type of light if the target region is a display window and another type of light if the target region is an icon. The variation in the light may be light intensity or color.

  • Patent number: 6774502
Abstract: A system for a battery powerable portable computer with keyboard input that extends the battery charge lifetime during time periods when the computer is being operated in a battery powered mode comprising the combination of a battery providing power to the computer, a keyboard providing input to the computer through user keystrokes, apparatus operatively associated with each of a set of keys in the keyboard for converting the mechanical motion respectively applied to each of the set of keys during keystrokes to generate an electrical current, and an electrical connector for applying the electrical current to charge said battery. The apparatus for converting the mechanical motion to generate an electrical current should include at least one electrical generator.

  • Patent number: 6717591
Abstract: For a presentation comprising a plurality of presentation segments, timing is established through the combination of assigning a portion of a total presentation time to each of the plurality of presentation segments, displaying the time assigned to each of said presentation segments, enabling a user to change the time assigned to the segment being presented, and in response to a change in said time, dynamically reapportioning the remaining total time among the subsequent sequential presentation segments. The reapportioned times for said subsequent sequential presentation segments can further be displayed. There may also be means, responsive to the change in the time, for dynamically eliminating one of said sequential segments. In slide presentations, there may be means for displaying the reapportioned times for said subsequent sequential individual slides together with miniaturizations of each of said subsequent sequential individual slides.

  • Patent number: 6356286
Abstract: A computer controlled user-interactive display system interface through which the user may access stored search queries to database and then initiate selected searches executed by such queries. The interactive interface includes a displayed tree having at least one root node representative of a view into a table from the database and a plurality of subnodes under the root node, each subnode representative of a stored search query for said table view. The interface system also includes an implementation for executing a search represented by a subnode in response to a user selection of that subnode, and an expedient for presenting the results of said executed search on the display. The preferred display layout would have the tree displayed in one region of the display screen and the result of the executed search presented in a screen region next to the tree region.

  • Patent number: 6353778
Abstract: An automobile computer control system for limiting the usage of wireless telephones in moving automobiles comprising an implementation for sensing when the velocity of the automobile exceeds a predetermined velocity, a wireless implementation for sensing when said wireless telephone is in use by the driver of said automobile and a function responsive to both of said sensing implementations for limiting said use of said wireless telephone by said driver of said automobile when the velocity of the said automobile exceeds said predetermined velocity. For the best safety, the predetermined velocity is any moving velocity. Also, the wireless device for sensing when the velocity of the automobile exceeds a predetermined velocity may be carried out by simple infrared device.

  • Patent number: 6014145
Abstract: In a data processor controlled display system having three-dimensional objects laid out in a three-dimensional virtual workspace, the objects have associated there with respective collision barriers which are stored with their corresponding objects. Then during navigation via changing the users viewpoint in to the workspace, when this changing viewpoint encounters any collision barrier which is offset from its object by a selected distance D, the viewpoint stops. This distance of the barrier from the object is selected so as to stop the viewpoint at a distance sufficiently removed from its particular object so as to leave the user or viewer with a view of the workscape of sufficient scope to permit the viewer to select a different navigation path or path branch. In accordance with a further aspect of the present invention, the viewpoint is optionally provided with a similar collision barrier.
