    Abstract: The rongeur has a frame with a medial horizontal channel in one portion and a stationary handle at the other portion. A carriage is slidably engaged in the channel. A movable handle is attached at a fulcrum arm at the bottom front of the frame. A two-piece shaft extends from an integral cover & barrel secured to the carriage. The shaft has a stationary lower half, and an upper half that reciprocates on the stationary half to open and close the bite area at the tip of the shaft in response to the surgeon gripping the handles. The shaft halves are held together by a slidable joint. The cover & barrel with the extended shaft can be cocked open to remove the shaft. The tip of the shaft has a closable bite area and is used to remove tissue or to take a biopsy. The tip can be rotated to various angles after pressing a release lever. Also, the shaft can be quickly removed and replaced with another shaft having a different tip.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a novel method of, and means for, directing energy through Si.sub.2 HSb.sub.2 in such a manner that normal energy parameters can be exceeded. The principal object of the invention is to provide the means for more efficient radiant energy power systems to be constructed. For example, this invention can be applied to construct more efficient rocket propulsion systems.Si.sub.2 HSb.sub.2 has a crystalline structure with a regular pattern of electron deficiencies which physicists call "holes" in the lattice. Energy can be radiated at the top of the compound and be accelerated as it passes through to a new higher velocity as it expelled out the bottom of the compound. This is accomplished by applying electrical potentials to the sides of the compound which rectify the "holes" in the lattice. The electrical potentials applied to the sides of the compound can be varied to allow the radiated energy output to be directed in the x,y plane.

    Abstract: A machine adapted to be maneuvered across a surface, typically a floor, in order to remove an unwanted coating such as asbestos and adhesive from the floor. An impeller hurls an abradent such as metal shot at an angle against the floor abrading the material which then rebounds along with the abradent up into a return channel where the abradent shot and the abraded material are separated. The shot is returned to the impeller. The abrasion takes place in a downward facing cavity. A wetting spray outside the cavity in advance of the forward end of the machine wets the surface in advance of the abrasion and creates a mist within the cavity which cools the flow of material rebounding from the surface. The presence of the mist greatly abates the dispersion of the abraded material permitting it to be discharged into a collecting drum without contaminating the ambient air.

    Abstract: A truing lathe has its components mounted on a base. A pair of stands for holding the workpiece are mounted on the base. The stands have a pair of notches where the workpiece rests and is rotatable therein. An electric motor with a pulley head is mounted on one of the stands and below the notches so that the motor drive shaft aligns with the axis of rotation of the workpiece. One loop of a stretchable endless belt is slipped over the midsection of the workpiece while the other loop is stretched to fit around the drive pulley. The cutting bit is mounted on separate longitudinally and transversely moveable blocks so that the bit can be adjusted radially and longitudinally relative to the axis of rotation of the workpiece to machine the workpiece. The mounting stand and the way the workpiece is rotated results in minimal precession of the workpiece on the lathe to allow for a closer and truer machining of the workpiece.

    Abstract: A transporter unit is used for abutting against a genoa car or lead block on a track on the starboard or port side of a deck of a sailboat to lock or move the lead block to adjust the jib sheet angle while sailing. The unit is slidably engageable on a modified track having a series of gear grooves to mate with a worm gear mounted on the unit. The unit is moved on the track by turning a shaft with an attached worm gear mounted in the unit. The worm gear cooperates with the track. The unit has a slidable carriage. The bottom of the carriage has a channel which mates with the modified track. The top of the carriage has a rectangular cavity onto which is mounted a rectangular housing. The cavity on the top of the carriage has a rectangular opening to provide access to the track for the worm gear. The carriage has a pair of inboard and a pair of outboard knuckle projections. There is a common bore through the inboard knuckles and the housing into which a quick release pivot pin is secured.

    Abstract: A generally U-shaped surgical instrument for prying apart and keeping open the rib cage in open heart surgery. There is a stationary arm with a toothed cross bar attached to it. A movable arm similar in configuration to the stationary arm has a housing at one end which slides on the bar and can be cranked open to force the sternum apart. The housing holds the crank mechanism and a pair of circular bearing inserts. The cranking mechanism is self-locking. One of the inserts is a safety feature, because it can be quickly popped out, should the movable arm become jammed on the bar during the cranking sequence, to provide clearance to unbind the arm on the bar. Both inserts are replaceable and take the wear and tear during the cranking process. New inserts can be inserted to refurbish the instrument. There is a V-clamp that slides on the arms and holds a support rod. There is a castellated clamp that slides on the support rod and it has an articulated extension rod.

    Abstract: The conduit swivel connector consists of a first conduit, adapted to be connected for example to a filler hose, and terminating in a bell-like housing within which resides a nipple with ball bearing rotation permitted between the two. Thus a pair of aligned conduits are provided with relative 360 degree rotation between the nipple and the housing. Leakage of fluid being transmitted through the connector is prevented by a series of sealing faces, one being located on a annular sealing member retained in the housing, which cooperates with a corresponding sealing face on an intermediate floating seal ring. The opposite side of the seal ring is provided also with a sealing face which engages in sealing sliding engagement with an annular face on the end of the nipple. The sealing faces are carefully lapped so that leakage is substantially prevented from the interior of the conduits.

    Abstract: A self-propelled trailer maneuvering dolly for transporting a fifth wheel trailer or a travel trailer. The dolly has a frame, a front handlebar and castor for steering, a pair of rear drive wheels for driving the dolly, a pneumatic motor, and sprocket wheels and chains for transmitting power to the drive wheels. There is a pneumatically extensible and retractable vertical lift, which has a top for engaging with the coupling member of a fifth wheel trailer and it also has a hitch ball for hitching up to a convention travel trailer. A spring biased lift bracket below the frame keeps the drive wheels off the ground when the trailer is empty so that the operator can easily maneuver the dolly into position below the coupling member of a fifth wheel to be moved. A lever supplies pressurized air to the lift, which in turn raises the front end of the fifth wheel trailer. The weight of the trailer is centered on the dolly and also keeps the drive wheels on the ground.

    Abstract: A cutting tool for severing a workpiece includes a main frame having a horizontal rail member and a grooved channel running its longitudinal length. There is an upright rigid head formed at one end of the frame which can either be a straight, a C-shaped or a pincerlike type of upright member. The upright head has a slot. The blade can reciprocate along the grooved channel and enter the head so that the blade can fully sever a workpiece placed in the gap between the blade and head. The cutting blade can either be V-shaped or concave shaped. The base of the cutting blade has a flange cooperating with the grooved channel for guiding the blade. The cutting blade is manipulated by a hydraulic piston which is mounted to the rear of the frame. The fluid pressure causes a shaft to extend or retract with the cutting blade attached to it.

    Abstract: A magnetic clasp has two mirror image halves each of which is attached to the ends of a necklace. Each half has a magnetic shell and an inserted magnetic core. The shell has a cylindrical body with a cone-shaped end. The front of the shell has an open cavity for inserting the magnetic core. The front of the shell and magnetic core form a flat surface. The magnetic core is made of samarium cobalt or neodymium iron. Both are strong magnets and allow the clasp to be very small in size so that it is aesthetically pleasing and lightwise. The end of each half has an eyelet for connecting to a necklace. A conventional fastener can be soldered to one eyelet so that the clasp can be added to an existing necklace. A safety catch can be added to the clasp as a back-up safety feature for expensive jewelry.
